Just when it feels like they’re going through the motions, one of them will pull out a genuinely hilarious one-liner or chilling observation. The story stagnates occasionally as we get a history lesson at each new location, but I didn’t find that troublesome. In every way the characters are written as though Scott Snyder’s incarnations never existed and, even liking some of Snyder’s work as I do, I find this very refreshing.
