Description

In the main key sector, it has two key rows & each row contains 16 keys. On the left side, we can see some control buttons such as undo, loop, save and count in. And there are eight knobs provided. There is a LED line on the top of the touch strip, also we can see there is a set of buttons around the screen that allow us to control many of its features. And we can say Atom SQ’s appearance seems much complicated and advanced when compared to Atom’s. I don't even think it's a low velocity issue - because my double notes all seem to have similar velocity to the first (intended) hit. it's as if my initial hits are too fast and the pad doesn't register. The main knob from the right that controls the menu, touches or is rubbing something inside or the plastic when turning it around. Can anyone confirm this ? velocity- and pressure-sensitive, RGB LED pads in a unique, staggered layout; intuitive for keyboard players and step sequencer fans

Octaves on the SQ can only go down to C0 and not below. Aside from actually playing lower notes, lower octaves are often used for key switches on virtual instruments, which makes those inaccessible on the ATOM SQ. Buttons – There are 16 different buttons on this MIDI controller. These different buttons are completely assignable. Basically, you get to choose precisely what they will do, which allows the ATOM SQ to fit your particular needs. That is similar to what I'm feeling as well, and I've also noticed less double triggers if I aim for the edge/corners of the pads. It's not exactly a workaround for many reasons, like you said, especially when you are not looking at the pads. Commonly for both users, it requires 32GB of HDD space, USB-C or USB A-2.0 port compatibility & Studio one 4.1 for native integration. While talking about Atom SQ, its requirements are mostly the same as above but there are some changes i.e For both Windows and macOS users, it requires a USB-2.0 port, 20 GB of HDD space & obviously Studio One for native integration. So is there a "workaround" for this design flaw? Yes. Is it a good workaround? Personally, I don't think so. It's awkward when you need to hit pads in both the top and bottom row. Invariably, trying to hit a top/bottom edge works for some fingers in one of the rows, but not for other fingers that need to hit in the other row. This is because my "aim" is better if I try for the TOP edge of pads in the top row, but instead aim for the BOTTOM edge of pads in the bottom row. But this requires a finger that needs to hit a note in the top row and then move down to the next hit in the bottom row (or vice-versa) to travel much farther than feels natural, which is slower and requires a very curved hand position with lots of finger curling and uncurling. Pads – For anyone that has used a keyboard MIDI controller before, these pads are going to have a familiar feel to them. They are set up in such a way as to mimic a standard keyboard, making them very easy to jump in and start using right off the bat. That is not to say, however, that these pads are just carbon copies of a standard keyboard. They are actually much more versatile than that, as they can be used for a variety of different instruments. These pads will also change color according to the mode you are in, as well as the different melodic scales that you are using. This all works pretty seamlessly with the included Studio One bundle or Ableton Live. These pads are also pressured sensitive, which allows you to change the pitch so that you achieve exactly what you are looking for in your music. Deep integration with Studio One's Pattern Editor allows for evolving step sequences that will bring your productions to life. You'll build compositions faster than ever before using the built-in step sequencer in Studio One and ATOM SQ. It's fast and easy for anyone who knows how to program a drum machine. Experimenting yields particularly rewarding results because ATOM SQ can constrain your performance to the scale of your choice. No more wrong notes! MusicRadar verdict: Atom SQ is one of the best controllers for Studio One that we have come across and also a great Live option. It’s a stylish desktop solution and a good price too. The web says One of the most bizarre omissions on ATOM SQ (and ATOM) is that there’s no power on/off switch and as long as it’s plugged into a powered USB port it stays on like a Christmas tree. I’m sure it should be possible to create a setup menu item and/or a key combination that would put the device to sleep and turn off all the pads, buttons, and screen.

Context-sensitive screen displays valuable parameter information including CC assignments, swing, and much moreAppearance is really an important factor when choosing a MIDI. They make up the Gui of the controllers and even have a massive impact on the workflow that the unit provides. Let us have a look on the appearences of both atom and atom sq. Official Live Integration. Ableton Live Lite included (for registered users after October 20, 2019) PreSonus built the Atom SQ explicitly for its own DAW, Studio One, and it shows. The integration between the two is excellent. The build quality is good, especially for the price, and the unique staggered layout bridges the gap between a traditional keyboard and a grid-based pad controller." marahbonjer wrote....What do you think ? Will there be a fix hardware or software from Presonus or are they abandoning the product and ignore its problems ? And maybe Atom SQ MKII will be better ?
