The Samsung Galaxy S7’s screen is sharp, vibrant, bright and the perfect size to use one-handed while still getting a big picture. It's not a huge issue, but the result is sound from your movies, games and music can end up being muffled by your hand. It's amazing to think that, two years after LG brought out the first mainstream QHD phone, we still don't have any dedicated content that can be viewed at this resolution. Of course newer phones like the Galaxy S10 and iPhone 11 Pro have this screen beat, but they're also far more expensive. I wear a watch, so didn’t find it useful, but it should be significantly more battery-efficient than constantly turning the phone on to check the time.

About that USB port—it's still Micro USB Type B rather than the reversible, possibly faster USB Type C port. The improved burst shot mode captures twenty full-resolution photos per second up to one hundred photos per row. It is the last phone in the Samsung Galaxy S series to be equipped with a MicroUSB-B port, which has since been replaced with USB-C technology. The new Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones are IP68 certified, meaning they are dust resistant and water resistant for up to 1. With a curved glass design, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are now even more comfortable to hold, with a body that fits just right in your hand.

What I noticed almost immediately, however, was just how much of a fingerprint magnet the Galaxy S7 is. The Samsung Galaxy S7 doesn’t break the mould but it is a significant upgrade on the Samsung Galaxy S6, with more power, a likely better camera, a new screen feature, a bigger battery, a refined design and the addition of a microSD card slot and waterproof body.

Given most of us take photos in poor light most of the time, particularly in grey Britain, that’s important.Adoptable storage allowed you to merge the removable and internal storage into a single, unified pool of storage.

It can be used with the included "Smart Switch" app to help transfer content and settings from a previous Samsung Galaxy device running Android 4. If you're brave, there are command line workarounds that can format the SD card to adoptable storage. The Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Samsung Galaxy S7 Active are Android-based smartphones manufactured, released and marketed by Samsung Electronics. The Samsung Galaxy S7 is sure to be one of the most popular phones of the year on name alone, but it’s got a lot more going for it than just a big name. Samsung’s cameras have been very good over the years, but the one fitted to the Galaxy S7 Edge is a cut above. As teardowns have shown, the waterproofing method of the Galaxy S7 is the same as the Galaxy S5—there's no special internal coating or anything, just rubber gaskets to keep the water out—but on the S7, the gaskets are inside the phone rather than hanging on exterior port covers. One likable customization is the always-on screen, which floats the time, date, battery status, and basic notification information on the screen at all times; you can swap it out for a calendar or one of a few preset images.
