Whereas high end expensive gaming monitors use IPS, VA still has its use keeping entry to mid level gaming panels affordable, which is great for gamers who’ve just been able to finally purchase a graphics card. The screen has also been certified under the AMD ‘FreeSync Premium’ scheme, but not under the NVIDIA ‘G-sync Compatible’ scheme unfortunately.

If you are more at the lower end <100Hz then it’s probably best to stick with the ‘Fast’ mode to reduce the pale overshoot. Gaming, watching videos and sRGB media creation is good on the LG 32GN600-B, with 95% sRGB and incomplete DCI-P3 and Rec.However it was noticeably darker, with the HDR colors barely hitting SDR peaks and only whites punching a little above at 360 cd/m2.

There’s no height adjust which would have been super useful with a monitor this size, tilt is -15 to 5 degrees. Note that DP is needed to support the maximum 1440p at 165Hz refresh rate, with HDMI supporting up to 144Hz maximum only.Viewing angles are fairly typical for VA with blacks changing around 20* and a brightness loss at 30 degrees both directions, but in real-world testing the screen is still quite usable. You can see this in the above pursuit camera photos which capture real-life perceived motion clarity where there is smearing particularly on the top images with the darker background. Performance is measured and evaluated with a high degree of accuracy using a range of testing devices and software. Straight press gives you Power Off, Input, Menu and Game Mode, which gives you access to 4 out of the 7 profiles, kind of weird. Next is Picture Adjust which is full featured, take note of the Six Color axis for fine calibration, and DFC is an automatic brightness adjustment according to screen content.

Passwords must be 8-16 characters, and have at least 1 Uppercase Letter, 1 Lowercase Letter, and 1 Number. This ghosting increases though in the middle area, and then is worst in the bottom region which is a shame. The commentary in each section will provide more information if a blur reduction mode is available and how it operates. Supporting FreeSync Premium and working with G-Sync over DisplayPort only, the menu is snappy, and the 8 mm pixel to air is pretty good. The ‘Faster’ mode was a bit sharper and clearer than ‘Fast’ mode with a little less dark smearing, at least at this max 165Hz refresh rate. For VRR then it really depends on your achieved frame rates in your games, and that will be dependent on your graphics card and settings you want to use.

gamma across different grey shades and ideally the grey line representing the monitor measurements should be horizontal and flat at the 2. In this section we will also include the measured input lag and look at any blur reduction backlight feature if it’s available.

Viewing angles are wide thanks to the VA panel and free from the “IPS glow” (a pale / white glow to the image) that is common to that competing panel technology when viewing darker content from an angle. The good news though is that because of this behaviour, the overshoot levels also decrease as the refresh rate goes up.
