Non perché Berger veda nelle sedotte delle vittime, fortunatamente, non ci sono né vittime né eroi negli incontri a due di questo romanzo. I love Lily Archer's works, and she didn't disappoint in her newest release of The Book of G. Starting with a mysterious introduction to our main character G, who has no memories of who he used to be and how he was severely wounded, I was instantly drawn in and wanting to know more. Each character that was introduced was more than just a move to further the plot; they were insights into a world that was both the same and different from our own. Though I believe I know who G truly is given the clues we have in the book’s description and the book itself, I do wish we learned more about G before he fell into that river. We’re often told his actions earned him his scars, but we don’t truly discover what those actions were. However, I enjoyed the ending and a part of me is hoping in a potential sequel.

Come non lo sono suo padre e sua madre: personaggi abbastanza ordinari che niente hanno da spartire con i protagonisti presenti nelle altre opere narrative di Berger, epici e sovrumani, pur se inseriti negli ultimi gradini della scala sociale. Until further notice, the G road test will not include these elements that are already covered in the G2 road test: I love their relationship for the most part; how she insults him and he acts like it’s foreplay (until it is)… but they have sexy times before I personally was ready for them to get together. And there’s not enough that happens afterwards in their relationship to warrant the secrets that are kept. Why did it take her so long to tell him she loved him!?

G" focuses on several key moments: Garibaldi's Italian saga and the early years of the modern Italian state are interlinked with G's conception and childhood, The Boer War coincides with G's sexual awakening, a 1910 aviation first with some of G's conquests as a young man and the Great War with G's apotheosis so to speak... G himself looks for the strange, in women and events, so for example one of his "conquests" is interesting for him only as long as her husband is threatening to shoot him...

This was the retelling my heart had been calling for! 🖤 Gaston was a mean and arrogant villain so I was always curious how a retelling about him would be like and I DEVOURED this book! It’s confusing that her name is too dangerous to share with him… and then everyone uses it all of the sudden. You will need to pay a fee to apply for a licence and take the knowledge test. See the list of fees. Study for the knowledge test Violence and danger abound throughout the journey, mostly with G being dragged into participating when he doesn't want to. Supernatural and fae creatures are discussed and encountered, for example. Most of the side characters are just passing through, but the horse is a lovable side character and some of the other villagers are likable and fun. One later character in the story felt complicated and I do wish there'd been more time spent with him after something else was resolved.

Later he was self exiled to continental Europe, living between the french Alps in summer and the suburbs of Paris in winter. Since then, his production has increased considerably, including a variety of genres, from novel to social essay, or poetry. One of the most common themes that appears on his books is the dialectics established between modernity and memory and loss,

G. non ha una visione della vita, al contrario del suo vigoroso creatore: se ne va per il mondo, sfiorando momenti storici di notevole importanza, presente sul posto, ma mai partecipe. The strength of human sexual desire can be explained in terms of natural sexual impulse. But the strength of a desire can be measured by the single-mindedness it produces. Extreme single-mindedness accompanies sexual desire. The single-mindedness takes the form of the conviction that what is desired is the most desirable possible. An erection is the beginning of a process of total idealization.Once you pass these tests, you get a G1 licence. You are considered a beginner driver and need to practice driving and gain experience over time. Where to apply Knowledge driving tests I wouldn’t go so far as to call him a villain because well, we don’t know what he was up to before the start of the story, but it wouldn’t be a big surprise if he was. This anti-hero, G, is selfish and arrogant but you can’t deny there’s something about him that’s so darn likeable! Part of that is because the heroine Charlie - the most selfless and humble person in the world, ironically - really complements him and brings out the absolute best in him. Visit a sexual health clinic for testing for sexually transmitted infections and contraception advice. Perhaps this reaction exemplifies the state of Berger's reputation. He hasn't exactly fallen into obscurity; his work as a critic and journalist is still well-known, but his achievement as a writer isn't fully appreciated. G., which may be his masterpiece, doesn't seem to be very widely read.

I loved seeing the relationship between the two main characters develop as time went on, and how though there was character development, it was done in a way that was realistic and didn't suddenly make a main character turn from morally gray to a knight in shining white armor. Though he did have redeeming moments, his focus remained on being good for the love interest *swoon*. G is a very interesting but somewhat strange novel; well deserving of the Booker it won for beautiful prose and some great paragraphs about relationships - among the best introspective descriptions of people in a romantic and erotic context and not only I've read. What did I not like? The main character, G. (there is no real explanation why the character’s name is G., and yes it includes the “.”) is a Don Juan whose entire focus is seducing women. He is wealthy, but the wealth is all inherited; he has done nothing to acquire it. He has no interest in history, culture or power. Other than some transformation in G. towards the end of the novel, there seems to be little plot. In addition to his singular focus when pursuing a particular woman, there is nothing in G’s actions or conversational skills that explain why women throw themselves, sometimes literally, at his feet. In sex, a quality of 'firstness' is felt as continually re-creatable. There is an element in every occasion of sexual excitement which seizes the imagination as though for the first time.

Save time, save money!

As a longtime fan of Lily Archer this novel was a more than pleasant surprise - it has all the heart (and spice) of her other novels, while exploring a bit of a grittier fantasy world and with an interesting writing style, coming from the anti-hero’s perspective.
