I think it would have been interesting if there had been a DNA test because the relationship was assumed throughout the book. As the novel progresses and more exciting events occur, we also obtain the POV of Detective Sergeant Joanna Harper who takes an unexpected interest in the potential abduction of her twins that Lauren initially reports to the police. Harper jumps to quick assumptions, makes impulse decisions, and is clearly willing to believe what seems plausible to no one else. The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. Jacqueline's books include The Story of Tracy Beaker, which has become a hugely successful BBC TV series; Girls in Love, which together with its two sequels was filmed for ITV television; and Double Act, which she adapted for Channel 4 and which won the Royal TV Society's Best Children's Fiction Award.

I never knew that Destiny and Sunset would be half-sisters and I think that Jacqueline Wilson added a twist to Little Darlings. I think generally the child is exchanged with another creature, generally a sickly fairy child, which can look like the original child because it can change its shape. Destinym aged eleven, is a normal girl living a normal life but her father is Danny Kilman, a rockstar. When the two girls meet in unlikely circumstances, they find in each other something they've been missing all their lives.A volcanic eruption is quite another, for, as the journalist who does a framing voice-over narration for Brooks’ latest puts it, when Mount Rainier popped its cork, “it was the psychological aspect, the hyperbole-fueled hysteria that had ended up killing the most people. The chapters alternate between Lauren’s perspective and that of DS Harper, a woman willing to bend the rules and follow her hunches; neither of them can abide by the hospital’s assurances that the woman who threatened to take the twins was a figment of Lauren’s overtired imagination.

Indeed, the novel does double duty as a survival manual, packed full of good advice—for instance, try not to get wounded, for “injury turns you from a giver to a taker. She also noted the absence of negative birth experiences in the fiction she had read up to that point.

It's sad to see how JW herself perpetuates stereotypical western beauty standards by defining 'fair' as more desirable, a theme which sadly runs often in her books. It is either a rare cynical ending to a Wilson tale, or a startling departure from her usual morality. Destiny wins first place in the talent show and sends a DVD to Sunset of it and at the climax of the book, Sunset shows Destiny's DVD to the show "Little Darlings" producer and at the end we see how Destiny comes to Robin Hill and Danny's house in a limousine and is welcomed, albeit for the cameras, as one of Danny's talented daughters.
