Last June, BTS announced they were going on hiatus, citing exhaustion and pressure as well as a desire to focus on solo creative projects. Beyond the Story was released internationally on Sunday 9 July 2023 and is available to purchase now. I loved how they subverted my expectations of the things that a boy group would discuss in their songs. So my main complaint with the book is that it did not dive deep enough into the more intricate concepts behind songs and performances, like the connections to Hermann Hesse, Carl Jung, Greek mythology and Korean folklore - I would have been interested in that. Way too dramatic from the start in its vocabulary, it's constantly drainingly high-energy and doesn't leave space for the actual high points to shine.

Written by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince is the book Jungkook claimed as the only book he could ever finish cover-to-cover. I love it because in this group, no matter how much our hearts break, we only love the stage even more. If you love ‘Spring Day’, pick up John Green’s YA novel The Fault in Our Stars, about two young people grappling with their mortality, facing death head-on, and learning to love and live even through intense pain and grief. The text takes readers from the trainee days to the Grammy stage, tackling all albums and many ideas behind the multimedia storytelling that is the BTS universe. Of course we didn’t know their inner thoughts on everything, but there aren’t too many revelations present here.BTS, a seven member group from South Korea, has taken over the world with their many talents, hard work, and charms. The same age, the pair were thrown together as trainees in the K-pop world and have been through a lot, from going to school together to the infamous (within the BTS fandom) ‘dumpling incident’, which caused a big falling out between the pair – although thankfully for everyone it was momentary. It quickly became a bestseller when Taylor Swift fans began feverishly speculating that it was her surprise memoir. All of the members share information with their fans about their interests, and BTS leader RM has expressed a love of reading.

But the song is more serious than just a bunch of hip thrusts; it’s all about how young people are compared to those older than them, and their concerns dismissed.

I am so thankful to the members for getting our acts together, and I want to say how thankful I am to ARMY for always loving us. They also go in depth with explaining how overwhelming their international success became and why they almost decided to disband at the beginning of 2018. The book also deals with the idea of giving love to others by first learning how to give love to yourself. It looks like RM really likes his books because Soompi, SBS Australia, and Koreaboo all mentioned him as an author that he’s read. The author even shared on his Twitter account that he was signing copies of the Korean version of The Alchemist for BTS members and the photo he uploaded showed a post-it note on the book with SUGA’s name on it.
