While holding down the "up" and "down" buttons (above/below the chrome footswitch), connect the pedal to your PC via the USB cable. This will put it in "firmware update" mode.

Whether or not the pedal has amp simulation is an important factor, as amp modelling is difficult and taxing on a DSP chip. As a result, normally at the budget end of the market you wouldn't expect to see decent amp modelling. For me it was a stepping stone into the world of pedals, but i have since sold it to buy dedicated pedals with higher quality output. When you start to pair it with high-end pedals you start to notice the difference in output pretty fast. And all of a sudden this brave little multitool that felt like magic before now started to feel like the weakest link in the chain, dragging the sound quality down. The Zoom MS-70CDR can store a total of 50 user presets with effect settings. Out of the box it ships The resulting synth sound itself is fantastic, of course, but the final killer blow was when at the

For example, there are four vintage Fenders (B-MAN Deluxe-R, FD Combo, FD Vibro, US Blues) and four vintage Marshalls (B-Breaker, MS 1959, MS Crunch, Marshall Super Bass I).

So, why getting one of these handy units instead of spending the same amount of money on just one effect? The MS-3 is technically a loop-switcher, aimed at being the core of a small rig. It's also a capable multi-effects unit in its own right though. Besides an intuitive interface and great core sounds, it benefits from Roland's excellent Librarian software for editing on a computer. A patch is like a chain of pedals. It is a collection of pedal effects and their settings, stored in the memory of the multistomp. Your instrument's sound runs through a patch. The multistomps allow you to store up to 50 patches. Each patch can hold up to 6 effects (4 on the MS-60B). The majority of players are likely to lean on the MS-3 for delays, reverbs, modulations and pitch effects, leaving core drive sounds to pedals in the three integrated loops. Moreover, the MS-3's built in EQ, noise gate and tuner eliminate the need for other utility pedals on a small board. For added versatility and convenience, the Zoom MS70CDR also houses an auto-chromatic tuner with smooth, real-time response with precise tuning and accuracy. The pedal’s display also makes the Tuner easy to see on a dark stage. In addition, the Zoom MS-70CDR can operate on three different power sources: AC adaptor (sold separately), USB bus power or two AA alkaline batteries (included) for up to seven hours of continuous mono input use and 5 hours of continuous operation when using the stereo input.MS-100BT: (discontinued, but still available) makes both bass and guitar effects available in one pedal, all effects must be loaded via StompShare app, a bit time-consuming, (might take a few hours) but once their in, you’ll never have to do that again.

Zoom firmware editor for changing the patches on the MS-60B and MS-70CDR (also on the MS-50G, but Zoom also has their Effect Manager tool for the MS-50G).It has much less processing power, and this power has to be shared over up to 6 effects. Compared to the original pedals it emulates it's often lower in bitrate producing a much more lo-fi sound (which some people want). This is especially noticeable in the reverb department, if you want long lush and clear tails it's probably better to buy a dedicated reverb pedal 3 times the price. The effects in this unit are time-based mainly [a lot of Choruses, Delays, Reverbs, phaser, flanger...] and some extra goodies [such as Guitar and Bass EQs and a noise reduction that works like a charm]. Lets say you are new to effects. You don't have much of an idea about them and you'd like to know what they do and sound like. With a total of 86 effects you'll never be short of dialing in the perfect sound with the Zoom MS-70CDR. There are 16 different chorus effects, 26 delays, 29 reverbs and 15 various modulation effects such as flangers, tremolos, vibratos, phasers and modulators.

MS-50B: Vice-versa with the 50B, this is a bass-based unit, with most guitar-based FX and amp sim modules missing. Mono in, stereo out. my biggest worry when i bought the pedal was that it will be extremely awkward to use. I'm very pleased to report that it is very intuitive, I got the hang of it almost instantly with no manual reading, I still had to take out the booklet to understand how to make an effect chain and how to tap tempo, but other than that very intuitive.
