I set the thermostat at 21c this high only because of the short lead from the radiator, other wise i would set the thermostat plug at 18c max. The above review I made on or around 26/4/2013 and have used this oil filled radiator ever since and the winters here are very, very cold! It has three variable heat settings and an adjustable room thermostat to set and maintain the desired temperature, as well as an anti-frost function and an overheat safety protection feature. Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). It does a great job of warming the area although truth be told we have not had any really cold weather as yet.

Thoroughly recommend this machine - it's silent in operation and pretty compact BUT (there's always a 'but') why is there no indication that this machine is painted in what is best described as 'Battleship' grey and not white? On entering the bedroom it's nice and warm so I turn the power level down to the 2nd second or even 1st power level. Its variable thermostat has frost protection and a choice of three heat settings, with a safety cut out switch to prevent it from overheating. The main body of the radiator is encased in a surrounding second outer shell, creating a chimney-like space in between the two.

On full this gives off a surprising amount of heat, the Ventrilo feature definitely works and if you put your hand above it, you feel an almost warm breeze. Wanted heating, something flexible, for the 2nd bedroom mainly at night without using the oil central heating. If you use the thermostat it does maintain a steady temperature - this works better than I expected. The temperature can be modified to various settings so it is great for leaving on if you need a little extra heat at night.

I don't mind so much if the smell is normal, though I don't find it particularly nice, was just worried it might indicate a fault as I have two other oil filled heaters (Swan branded) and these don't smell at all. It actually suggests running the heater outside on full for a few hours but it's so wet and damp I wouldn't feel happy putting an electrical appliance outside and I've never heard of this 'gassing' before sounds like it could be nonsense?

knowing I'd be watching tv etc in the living room for entire evenings, and not wishing to have the central heating warming the entire house all evening long i decided to try an oil filled radiator. My second rad was a DeLonghi 800W Banmbino which was actually purchaed for a small 8ft x 8ft office room. If this is going to be your primary heating device for a large space I would maybe look for something a little bigger, however for a normal sized room its perfect. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It features the 'Venturi effect' in which an internal chimney-like structure increases convective air flow. We have a Delonghi oil-filled electric radiator in the conservatory, and it does smell a bit when it is heating up - like a kind of rubbery smell, but not burning rubber. I was quite surprised to see setting 2 being so close to the same power consumption as setting 1, but there you go.

The trick is to use them only when needed and to keep them set as low as possible to keep comfortable. Will now work out the cost of this but am confident that it will be a lot cheaper to run than oil boiler going all night for just 1 radiator! I gave it 4 out of 5 because as there are no handles or anything to grip that isn't warm when it heats up, you can't really move it unless you get a towel or slide it along the floor on a mat. Whilst, it does put out a decent amount of heat, even just on the 2nd of it's three heat settings, I find that it (still) gives off a strange odour, very hard to describe not burning smell as such but a noticeable odour that isn't pleasant. They do make a sort of pleasant crackling sound of heating oil when turned on from cold if used on the highest setting (which is disconcerting at first if you aren't used to oil-filled heaters but is perfectly normal! Electric radiators (all of them) are pretty much 100% efficient, so turn all of the electrical energy in to heat. My view is NO electrical appliance should be used in the bathroom unless it is designed for bathroom use and it correctly wired in by an electrician. Within my 18x12 room I tend to use setting 3 for the first 10 minutes to warm things up quickly, and then turn to setting 2 with stat on max to maintain room heat.
