Description

The Lenco LS-55WA is a high-quality, belt-driven turntable with modern features to suit every need. Capable of playing virtually every size of vinyl from 7" to 12" with two-speed settings of 33 1/3 and 45 RPM, you will be able to play all of your favourite records exactly how they were intended. The classy natural wooden finish would feel right at home in any setup and add class and decorum to your home hi-fi system. The LS-55WA comes complete with a dust cover lid to protect your turntable when not in use and an adjustable counterweight.

Selected items are only available for delivery via the Royal Mail 48® service and other items are available for delivery using this service for a charge. The controls of the LS-410WA are somewhat cryptic. There's a volume dial, an On/Off/Mode button, a Play/Pause button, and separate buttons for 33rpm and 45rpm. However, there's no indication as to which speed is actually selected – the buttons have no downward travel at all, nor any illuminating lights – so your best bet is to look at the turntable as it rotates and guess by eye. Or ear, as you'll soon know if the record is playing at the wrong speed! Now, you can either dial down the internal speakers to zero using the volume knob onboard, and let your bigger external speakers feed your soul, or you can find a sweet spot where the Lenco acts like a 'third' speaker to blend with and complement your stereo pair. We liked this approach to add a bit of the Lenco's 'sparkle' to the overall sound. This definitely works best when the Lenco is centred between two speakers, so you don't cause the sound to become lopsided.

Manual

You might also miss certain higher-end features such as auto-stop/return, pitch adjustment control and a strobe light, which are all nice to have, no question. The LS-410WA is more about simply playing records, with the least amount of fuss or finesse. So there you are. This budget turntable offers a lot and looks good. It even has auto-power off with a spoken warning that took me by surprise; there’s a woman in the house, where’s she hiding? Under the turntable! Overall, there’s a lot to love about the Lenco LS-55. It’s a complete solution for those who just want to play their old record collection right out of the box without the need to hook up amplifiers and mess around with cables. The built-in speakers are good enough for casual listening and even the option to stream music from your phone comes in handy. Combining modern technology with a classic design this turntable’s luxurious wood finish compliments the decor of any room. You can change the record speed 33/45 depending on the size of the record you’re playing and there’s an auto stop button that stops the record from spinning when it reaches the end. Unfortunately, there’s no auto-return feature.

With all four speakers so close together, it's practically a mono experience, so yes, dedicated mono records do come across very well. Flipping through The Beatles' remastered 7" vinyl box set, for example, is a lot of sonic fun. Ideal for integrating into your existing home hi-fi setup, the LS-55WA comes with an RCA line-level output for compatibility with most hi-fi setups and several input options such as AUX and Bluetooth. The LS-55WA can also be used standalone thanks to the onboard stereo amplifier pushing out 2 x 5 watts for a clear and enjoyable listening experience without the need for additional speakers. Convert vinyl to digital formats Speed accuracy was good, but speed stability mediocre, warbling and drunkeness being obvious on a test tone (W&F=0.4%). For customers in outlying areas of the country, the price of the Extended Warranty may be marginally higher, due to the potential for higher collection and redelivery transport costs. One of the most unique and useful features of the Lenco LS-55WA turntable is the integrated USB port. This USB connection gives you the ability to convert your vinyl record collection into digital audio formats. This makes digitising your record collection easier than ever before. Simply connect the turntable to your computer via the USB port and start capturing your vinyl records in any audio software program. Specification

Collection and delivery costs are included for the first 2 years in the event of an item becoming faulty The On/Off/Mode button cycles through the various output options, which is more straightforward. Play/Pause controls the rotation of the turntable platter, which is essentially start and stop. Lenco suggests that you may wish to 'pause' a record halfway through, leaving the needle in place in the groove, but honestly we've never done this, or wanted to do it, in all our years of vinyl listening. Something about the needle dragging in the groove as the turntable gradually builds up speed again from zero to 45rpm seems wrong, to us. Its LS-410WA belt-driven Bluetooth turntable with four built-in speakers, reviewed here, is a hybrid turntable covering aspects of all the types described above, to more or less some degree. Two small loudspeakers are fixed to the underside to make the LS-55 much like an all-in-one record player from the 1960s. Even 5 Watts of power is similar. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered Lenco, the long-standing hi-fi company with Dutch/Swiss roots, and which recently celebrated its 75th anniversary, has a number of turntable options in all these spaces. If you're coming from a more premium turntable – one of Lenco's own higher-end models, for example, like the fine L-92WA anniversary model – the LS-410WA does have more of a 'flimsy' plastic feel, with its spindly tone arm and lever. With this wistful reflection in mind, setting one's realistic expectations for the LS-410WA would be a sensible approach for minimal regret, maximum pleasure.

The LS-55 has an impressive range of features and ability at a ridiculously low price. Moreover, it looks and feels good in the flesh, even if the arm and platter don’t bear close inspection. It is a three-speed (33,45,78rpm) belt drive with auto-start at arm lift and optional auto-stop (but not lift). There’s an onboard stereo amplifier rated at 5W per channel, with small loudspeakers on the plinth’s underside. With a well built wooden plinth sitting on solid legs, the volume control is easy to use and it does not upset play, the plinth and arm sitting on a spring isolation system. Nice hinged dust cover too. You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers.
