This book has the most amazing illustrations which draw the reader in, making them feel like they are in the story itself. This is truly a brilliant book that takes children on a magical journey with Leon, the main character who makes you feel that magical things will happen if you believe. Under new guidelines, there are fewer available seats in the Barbican Hall, set as clusters of seats. Children will recognise the enchanting styles of the famous names through their other titles such as Winter’s Child and FArTHER. I also wasn't a fan of random capital letters in the writing style - I think that may confused children who are trying to learn the rules of using capitals, and as a teacher reading this story to them I find myself unsure whether to emphasis, raise voice with these parts, or remain neutral.

I think that this is a great point of creativity for children to explore, particularly in a sense of what is inside the place between and the morality behind being sent there. It will be beneficial to have at least five or six copies of the text so that each group of learners can interact with and explore the text. The book also incorporates various page structures, such as a fold out page that reveals what the carousel produces after the handle is turned. The facial expressions of the characters and the way the text is presented gives the readers a magical experience as they move through the narrative. This exciting and beautifully illustrated picture book follows Leon beyond the realm of the circus big-top and, with a ‘Pouff!By providing a contextual explanation rather than just a standard definition, we can better help children understand the stories we are sharing with them and widen their vocabulary. Many different strategies can be carried out with this book, such as role play, writing letters or diaries and stories. Honestly, it opens so many doors for creative teaching which I really like from it, but I find the actual story rather boring. The pack even goes a step further by offering a selection of resources and activities at the end of the pack to support teachers in the classroom. Spaces for wheelchair users in row U at the rear of the stalls (up to sixteen, depth of row 180cm) and the back row of the circle (four), both with fold-down companion seats.

Includes all sentence starters, powerful verbs, adverbs/adverbial phrases, nouns/noun phrases and personification used in the book. If you are about to start this wonderful book in your literacy lessons, this bundle could save you so much time! This is a wonderful production, in different media with fantastic use of sumptuous colour and light throughout. There are other performers in the circus tent which initially invite the reader to continue reading and exploring the illustrations. Wanting to prove to his brothers and sister that magic really exists, Leon volunteers to be in Abdul Kazam's magic show and gets transported to a mysterious world. I like how the book contains some fold-out pages and cut out parts so that the illustrations on the next stage come through to the previous page. This book is aimed at children in years 3 and 4 , however i feel that children from nursery onwards will enjoy this story.

Could you use a similar effect to publish a story of your own using a word processor or publishing software? Your class are challenged to identify different nouns, verb, adjectives and adverbs from the story and group them. Filled with rabbits, doves, playing cards and magician's assistants - among other things - if a magician can make it disappear, it will end up in the Place Between! The storyline is simple and easy to follow, however as I reader the capital letters in the middle of sentences feel unnecessary. Leon and the place between is about a boy named Leon and his family who go to the circus where magician Abdul Kazam is performing.

Not much happened and it felt boring and rushed;he was there, saw a few things, met a rabbit, went back. The words within the book literally come to life through the illustrations, for example near the beginning, the author describes the atmosphere in the circus, and “The lanterns went out. Linda: I like this book because it is very interesting and it's also a little bit connected to our unit because we can express magic. The Vocabu-Library resource from Vocabulary Ninja is a comprehensive vocabulary resource designed to unpick and explain the vocabulary found within classic and modern children’s literature.Filled with rabbits, doves, playing cards and magician's assistants – among other things – if a magician can make it disappear, it will end up in the Place Between!
