The Razer ManO'War originally hit the market in 2016 as a premium wireless headset for gamers, complete with LED lighting and virtual 7.1 surround sound. This year, Razer has released a new version of the ManO'War that ditches wireless connectivity bringing the same technology down to a lower price point. Aside from gaming, the ManO'War is also pretty decent for listening to music. Of course, it's also perfect for watching movies without needing to buy a sound bar or a surround sound system for your home theater. Set the Bass Boost to 80, leave the Presence Level in the middle and set the Volume Level somewhere around +15. The connection strength is by far my favorite feature on the headset, as no matter where I moved to in the room, the connection was perfect. I was even able to move to the room above my test PC and have a connection (albeit unstable), which is something the Corsair Void Wireless couldn’t achieve.

For the average game player, this is a perfect buy. If you’re looking into something for a younger gamer, or are seeking a suitable mobile gaming headset, the ManO’War 7.1’s size make it difficult to recommend in these cases. But those caveats aside, we heartily recommend it. Secondly, try to make sure there isn’t a similar issue with the charger either. It is more than possible the charging cable users are powering the headset through might be broken. That’s why it’s recommended you try charging it with another cable and/or on another outlet to confirm this isn’t the case. If neither this nor the previous solution were helpful for you, move on to the ones which we’ve listed below.

One of the great benefits of Razer's solution is that sound quality isn't degraded when you move from a stereo to surround sound output. This means you don't need to constantly switch the surround sound mode on and off, which can get annoying on other headsets as the 'surround mode' tends to make music sound like garbage. Creaky skeletons aside, Razer does nail some of the finer aspects of a wireless headset. The built-in controls are easy and obvious, and they’re also powerful compared to some of the competition. The bottom of the right ear sports a volume wheel, while the bottom of the left has the power button, charging port, and a second volume wheel dedicated solely to the microphone. That’s a rarity. At times, it felt a bit ridiculous to wear something this large on my head, however I imagine some gamers will appreciate the massive, circular design used here. In fact two other TechSpot writers particularly liked the circular padded design of the Razer, go figure. This EQ has even more bass, but you'll have to sacrifice some treble for it. This is as smooth as it can get before becoming all distorted. You may be able to tinker a bit more with this one on different Razer headsets So i was playing around with the EQ, trying to find a good combination, and i think i found the perfect one. I'm using USB 7.1 Krakens.

One other aspect I love: You can configure whether each program runs in 2.0 Stereo or 7.1 virtual surround individually, through Synapse. Want Spotify to output in stereo while playing a game in simulated 7.1? You can do that. While I wasn't hugely impressed with the build of the ManO'War, the sound quality is very good. I wouldn't class myself as an 'audiophile', but I did appreciate the balanced audio provided by this headset. No single area of the sound profile seemed overpowering, and I appreciated the amount of bass. Some gaming headsets push the bass up to the maximum for ridiculous explosions, but this isn't an issue with the ManO'War.Even the virtual 7.1 surround sound is decent, which is surprising considering what I've seen in the past. However, the build quality of the headset is questionable, and the massive design definitely isn't for everyone.
