Games: Sega Superstars · Sega Superstars Tennis · Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing · Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed The Wii version of SEGA Superstars Tennis arrives stateside with one glaring omission – namely, the online mode destined to extend the replay value of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 builds is sorely absent from this incarnation. SEGA reps recently stated that there wasn't enough time to include the feature. Instead, Wii owners are able to play the title with three different control schemes – the standalone Wii remote held vertically, the standalone Wii remote held horizontally, or the Wii remote and nunchuk combo, which features waggle and seems to be the most intuitive setup, in our experience.

The gameplay in Sega Superstars Tennis is similar to Sega's Virtua Tennis series, with characters able to perform techniques such as lob shots and drop shots. Characters each have different statistics and proficiency in specific areas, such as power or control. Each character also has their own unique "Superstar State", a special ability that can be activated once an accompanying meter is filled. The effects of a Superstar State vary depending on the character; for example, Sonic transforms to Super Sonic and causes the ball to zig-zag when hit, while Gilius summons thunderbolts that can temporarily stun opponents. The game features 10 courts themed after various Sega games, such as Green Hill Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog and Shibuya Downtown from Jet Set Radio. [3] Carrier Zone ( After Burner): Includes cameos from workers, pilots and the F-14 Tomcat the player pilots in After Burner. Puzzle Construction (1991, TeraDrive) · Sonic the Hedgehog's Gameworld (1994, Pico) · Tails and the Music Maker (1994, Pico) · Sonic's Schoolhouse (1996, PC) · Sonic Shuffle (2000, Dreamcast) · Shadow the Hedgehog (2005, multi-platform) · Sega Splash! This is carried over to future Sega Superstars titles. The Wii version features support for three different control schemes: the Wii Remote with Nunchuk, the Wii Remote sideways, and the Classic Controller. The Nintendo DS version of the game can be played with the standard control pad or the touch screen. [3] Playable characters [ edit ]

About The Game

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions both have online play, while the Wii version has three different control schemes (motion control, Wii Remote sideways, and Wii Remote with Nunchuk). The Nintendo DS version of the game can be played with , or utilize the stylus. Between the HD version and the Wii version visual-wise, the models in the latter are of low quality, making the spectators' limbs jagged (mostly Silver and Blaze's). The lighting on the models overall, including the models, especially when doing special poses, are likewise very poor. Also, whereas the shot balls have yellow trails on the HD version, the shot balls on the Wii version display specific trails (yellow, blue, green) depending on its power.

The game was followed up by two racing game entries, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (2010) and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (2012). This "charge early" control negatively affects the game's more over-the-top arcade element: special shots. As you successfully volley the ball, you're building up your special shot represented by a star below your character's feet. When it's fully illuminated, tapping the shoulder button will activate it and enable your character's over-the-top tennis playing abilities. On the console game, the characters will perform moves that'll throw trash on the court, or teleport the opposition to remote positions. On the Nintendo DS, they're nothing but crazy shots that zig zag and corkscrew, zipping in different locations. Here's the problem: while the ball is whizzing all over the court, since the ball has a pre-determined landing position, players can simply stand in the middle of the court and start charging their swing. 90 percent of the time the player can blindly hit these shots this way, making the reason for these shots pretty much pointless.

She is the only character to have multiple lines taken from different actors. The number of missions also varies between the HD version and the Wii version, and the former has more missions than the latter. In addition to that, the HUD of the Wii version is simpler than that displayed on the HD version.
