Book 2 of this Academy Demi-God Paranormal Why Choose series has caught my attention and I'm already listening to book 3. Why does idol worship stubbornly persist despite many centuries of prejudice, bigotry and violence against it? RM, who is known to love books and draw literary influences from them, has also recommended The Stranger by Albert Camus and Please Look After Mom by Kyung-Sook Shin.

The main character, Dol, is trying to start the revolution and rise up against these alien lords in a futuristic world. From the United States and the United Kingdom to Canada, South Africa, the Caribbean, India, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, Black Lives Matter protests defaced and hauled down statues of slaveholders, Confederates, and imperialists. Plus, at times, I did not understand what was so special about Daisy that the 4 Idols cared for her so deeply. Every now and then it seemed like the author was suddenly like "oh yeah I need to add romantic scenes now" and the would either make Dol focus on Lucas or on Ro for a moment before rushing the plot some more. As the stakes continue to rise, the romance takes a bit of a backseat, but the bond forming between the characters is no less compelling.Every time Daisy had sex with one of the Idols, she made it sound like they were her regular hook ups. The plot twists and constant adventure didn't feel overwhelming and that is a true art form in itself. The fact that everywhere they go, the No Face shows up, which makes sense and all but they keep killing everyone. There are games played on all sides and you don’t quite know who’s side is on whims and which is good and bad and I’m here for it! But before they can fully digest the little bits of information they gather there's an attempt on her life, one she should have died from if not for one of the MMC's previously unknown healing powers.

I think Margaret rushed to finish this book which ended up having crappy sentences, incomplete ones and not enough of a plot. Above all, this is a book that celebrates, with idiosyncratic humour and warmth, how these actors accomplished much of their best work during the transitional period between the Rank/ABPC roster of stars and the US domination of the British film industry. I knew being the only Norm at Gifted Academy would be hard and dangerous, but I didn’t expect to be tossed out of a window. There are no vedas and shashtra related facts on idols worship mentioned, I didn't like the presentation of ideas i. The guys finally give up their destroy Daisy plot and surprise surprise man up about their feelings. The guys, idols, are definitely an important part of the bigger picture, but I wonder if any or all of them might end up as collateral damage. Like, everything is just always happening so fast and there are rarely moments where the characters ever have actual moments together and connect. What I appreciated about this book was that it definitely showed the bad side of the k-pop industry. That's because a) I don't list books that I didn't like enough to finish and b) I didn't want to delete the ratings I had already given.

Even thinking of rebellious thoughts is a crime bound to get the attention of the Thought Police and a harsh punishment, making everyone live in constant fear because they know that Big Brother is watching them. I have loved the twists and turns throughout the book, along with the mystery of what Daisy truly is. Producer Kim Hak-min of Hyori's Home Stay said that IU had chosen the book as the best book she had read in her life. When boys are involved, Dol seems naive and young, which is at odds with her marginally more assertive personality that shines through a few times.

I live in Santa Monica, CA, with my family, most of whom were enslaved into working with me in one form or another on my first YA book for Little, Brown.
