From one Mother to another, Amy you are a remarkable woman, and if at the end of my life I can look back with the pride and the memories you have with your family, I will be one happy woman! Amy found herself catapulted into the media circus that followed her daughter, sometimes with devastating consequences. Her mother is a strong woman and I didn’t realise has undergone a lung transplant - I wish her all the best even though it is hard as she probably won’t recover but hope she can hang on longer now she has had the transplant. A well written memoir and an in interesting insight into how fame can have such a far reaching impact on loved ones. A talented swimmer, she seemed destined for the Olympics, however experience of sexual abuse cut short her career, and she chose motherhood over medals. Amy struggles to understand why her daughter does the things she does and tries like any mother would to stand by her daughter even through some of the farcicle marriages she has been through.

As a grandparent to Katie’s son Harvey, Amy has also become a prolific campaigner for families of children with disabilities – but there was one battle she had to fight alone.

The people who spread abuse online need to read this and take a good look at themselves and how far they can truly push someone to the brink, which in turn affects the whole family unit. Now the book is a best seller, not only does Amy have the last word but she’s also had the last laugh. I really enjoyed hearing more about Amy's life, as well as the life of Katie, her brother and sister, and Katie's children and ex partners. It would be amazing if she could have the send-off she deserves without the event becoming a media circus. Being a carer for your complex children’s needs is enough to make any upset cause a breakdown as you are always worrying, exhausted and protective at the same time.

The book is brilliantly written and besides all the hate Kate gets well I'm someone that don't bother listening to the false and exagerated stories the press make! Amy also contradicts herself on several occasions by blasting beahaviours in Katie's ex's that she previously stated that Katie herself did but later changes the record. But submission is not a word in Amy's vocabulary and so she refused to capitulate to her greatest challenge. It also confirmed what I always guessed - that Peter Andre is an absolute bell end - worth reading just for that !

I enjoyed this book a lot, it made me also see katie in a different light aswell, she is an amazing mum to harvey and as a mum to 2 disabled children I actually find her an inspiration. This book certainly does, and Amy really doesn't hold back on her thoughts and opinions on her daughters life. Kate has been through so much and i can understand to some extent the walls she has put up due to the continued rejection and hurt shes faced, while its no secret she wanted to be famous and chose this life, this book also helps understand why she kept chasing things that didnt serve her. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I just hope she and the whole family get a break as I do think over the years they’ve had a lot of negativity unfairly many times too .
