Description

The abbey and the brewery were closed during the French Revolution and seemed to be nothing but a distant memory, until the abbey was re-established in 1929. In 1952 abbot Nys and Albert Lootvoet decided to once again take up the brewing tradition of Leffe with its well-guarded recipe and offer a range of delicious Leffe beers. In the meantime, AB-InBev has taken up the torch and has made a commitment to honour the tradition of the Leffe beer, which has been brewed according to the same recipe since 1240. The taste of Leffe Ruby offers subtle traces of red fruit and rosewood suitable for those with a sweeter tooth, who still want to enjoy the essence of a typical abbey beer. Red in colour, Leffe Ruby has delicate traces of spice, that when poured into a Leffe chalice will reveal a multitude of taste sensations. Made with meticulously selected ingredients, Leffe beers taste like no other. Today, this Belgian beer is exported to other countries and has expanded its clientele significantly. Leffe beers stand out thanks to their elegance, the remarkable design of their bottles, and their unique smooth and delicious taste.

Belgian Abbey beer Leffe, has launched two new variants in the UK, Leffe Ruby and Leffe Nectar, as the brand continues to grow the abbey beer category. Emily Kraftman, Senior Brand Manager for Leffe, remarks: "Both Leffe Ruby and Leffe Nectar join our existing range to offer a different alternative to the more traditional abbey beers. Fruit tasting beers continue to prove popular in the UK, and now Leffe brings its history of expert brewing to the core of these new variants."

Founded in 1152, Notre-Dame de Leffe was an abbey of Premonstratensian canons, i.e. monks living in a community characterised by its hospitality. Do not open any bottles shortly after delivery. They are likely to be very volatile and cause spillage. Abbaye de Leffe in Dinant was founded in the 12th century and, like most abbeys and churches, they built a brewery to serve drinks to parishioners and pilgrims. Most people, including children, drank beer of some sort as it was much safer to drink than water. In terms of tasting notes, Leffe Ruby offers subtle traces of red fruit and rosewood suitable for those with a sweeter tooth, who still want to enjoy the essence of a typical abbey beer.
