Re niggle's comments, the frame does seem to be a bit of a mongrel; it's tricky fitting the rear wheel with the horizontal dropouts and disc brake but can be done. A sexier option would be their Pompetamine frame, which is intended for hub gears such as the Alfine 8 and disc brakes. To make a shim, carefully cut a piece of drinks can about 3cm wide, and as long as needed to go 'round the pin twice (2Pi x radius, times 2, if my ancient maths is correct), and wrap it around the pin at the point where the clamp tightens around it.

Just looking at some old raleigh bikes, and the frame forgetting about the paintwork and carlton logos looks the same as a 1985 Raleigh team Panasonic 531c, been built at the same factory at around the same time, was it just that some Raleighs got rebranded to the Carlton Carrera? The saddle can go MUCH higher if needed - the frame is a small (16 inch), I tried both medium and small and medium would be too big for jumping and decent off road stuff as I would have needed the saddle at its lowest just for normal riding! I'm on the look out for a hardtail MTB to get back into biking (last got on the saddle 10+ years ago!

nothing wrong with the vulcan for the money, and it sounds like you know not to expect it to be the cutting edge of bike technology so you aren't expecting too much of it.

As for saddle, like someone else said the charge spoon is the de rigeur choice for a cheap but comfy saddle; I have one on all 3 of my bikes. Whilst this bike has been brilliant with no problems I have however been involved in a serious accident very recently as the saddle bolt snapped in half through the thred in mid cycle. Its counter-intuitive, but saddles with heavier padding tend to be less comfortable after not very long, more prone to rubbage and chafing.I'll keep a close eye on it, I think it'll be OK but I'm not convinced enough to sell it to a complete stranger. It wasn't identical to my frame which, apart from being a 20", had vertical dropouts and an eccentric bottom bracket. I'm probably going to be told I did the wrong thing, but I decided to cut my own slot so it now works fine and looks exactly like the old bike. Additionally make sure your User-Agent is not empty and is something unique and descriptive and try again. Even with that, the riding position isn't exactly racer, but I've got the bike for a bit of fun so it's not the end of the world. Im finding it difficult to find information on the Carrera model and wandered whether this model was sold with different stays and if anyone can shed light on it for me, my thinking is that one of them probably has been repaired with rear end damage but wanted to know peoples opinion. One of the two bolts on my Rockshox suspension post failed on the way home after many thousands of miles, then a year later the alloy clamp itself failed - luckily in both cases I stayed on the bike - I should have been prepared for the second incident because the saddle had been creaking as I hoiked the bike over the door sill on a daily basis. Due to its limited production run, the Porsche Carrera GT has become a highly sought-after collector’s car. Despite its performance-oriented nature, the Carrera GT provides a level of comfort suitable for long drives. If i can just sort out why my pedals keep coming loose ecery few days i will have the perfect commuting bike for my needs. They suggested that I take the frame to my local branch and seek the advice of their "Cycle specialist".

bike-2015 hopefully if you zoom in you can see the seat post fitting on the carrera that i need to attach a seat to. The replacement has horizontal dropouts AND an oversize bottom bracket shell (re Niggle's post above). com Limited, registered in England and Wales with number 03934849, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom. Does anyone have such a frame and if so would you be able to let me know what size of seat post it requires?Very sorry to hear of your nasty accident and very bad luck indeed and a handy reminder of what can happen. A very rough guide for a leisure/touring cyclist is to start by setting your saddle so that your knee is over the pedal spindle ( viewtopic. Not looking for the best-of-the-best, but grateful for any advice if the Vulcan is definitely to be avoided!
