Description

Corefix is extremely robust and able to support huge loads, however care must be taken with cantilever brackets as the combination of a heavy item on this type of arm increases the forces on the wall significantly. The recommended safe load of 100kg (4 x fixings) includes a conservative Factor of Safety (see datasheet for further details). Corefix is not reliant on the strength of the plasterboard - instead it transfers the load directly to the solid masonry behind via the steel core. And I might want a bit of overhead on my fixing, so it’s getting on for an 80mm long fixing and 85mm deep hole.

No matter your level of installation experience, our Corefix wall plugs have a straightforward design for a quick and easy installation using only a drill, hammer and screwdriver. Just to add, if you’re nervous about the Thermalite blocks and want to avoid drilling into them, have a look at Gee Fix fixings. A stud wall or stud work wall – is where a wooden frame is constructed to create the room partitions and the plasterboard is then attached to the framework. With a precision engineered plug and steel core, the system transfers the majority of the load away from the plasterboard and ties this into the solid block or brickwork behind, giving total peace of mind. Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.

Made in Britain, Corefix wall plugs are independently reviewed to ensure a safe and secure hold no matter the fixture. In fact Corefix has been independently tested to 100kgs loading* and has safely held 250kg in our own internal tests*. and I’d worry in the event of a child pulling/wobbling event, and play in the fixing may slowly bring it loose. Because these fixings have been especially designed to provide a secure fixing into exactly these types of internal walls.

Available in three ranges Corefix original, for all block and brickwork, Corefix Air, for lightweight thermalite blocks and Plus30, with a 20mm longer screw for deeper brackets and fixtures (on the outside of the plasterboard). Please complete the purchase (or remove the quote – don't worry it's still available in My Account) before adding these additional items. Most traditional fasteners used for dot and dab walls impart a point loading on the plasterboard, which, when the screw is tightened, crushes the plasterboard into the void, potentially damaging the wall finish and visually distorting the wall. The rawl plug got its name from John Joseph Rawlings who invented this simple yet universally used fixing way back in 1911. Often resulting in the fixing screw bending slightly over time due to the distance between the rawl plug and the face of the plasterboard/item being fixed.

Corefix 100 (red) is the standard go to fixing for installations where the fixture thickness is up to 10mm (e. HOWEVER I also bought the normal Corefix fixings (the red ones) and this one as this one states designed for thermolite blocks. Always, Always, Always check with a cable pipe detector before you drill into a 'dot and dab' or plasterboard wall suspended on wooden battens. Corefix Air (Blue) has been created to highlight the suitability for use when fixing into thermalite/aircrete blocks as this type of wall construction is notoriously difficult to fix to. They are exceptionally easy to use, feel totally solid and secure and I was very impressed with the look and quality of the 3 components. The coated thick steel core tube bridges the gap between plasterboard and solid masonry wall meaning four fixtures can safely hold up to 100kg, ensuring any heavy item is securely held in place. The commonly used rawl plug and screw is a classic example, but for a more secure and safe fixing the Corefix solution is hard to beat. The phrase "hollow wall" is creeping into the English language (mainly via the internet) so you might see the term "hollow wall anchors" referred to in connection with internal stud wall / dot and dab wall fixings. I used them to hang a 42kg vertical radiator on a drylined wall and the fittings were very good, with nice simple instructions.
