When April hears that a polar bear has been shot and injured in Svalbard, she's convinced it's her friend and persuades her dad to travel with her to the northernmost reaches of the Arctic. So begins an unforgettable journey across frozen tundra and icy glaciers. I was on the edge of my seat! Full of action and danger, this book had me tense and hopeful that everything was going to turn out all right. April and her Dad make a fantastic team and although they have their differences, it was nice to see how they interact with each other as the book progresses. Some big changes have happened in April's life and her character progression as she learned to deal with and accept these changes was lovely to see. Hannah's story of Bear and his love for his cub made me unable to put this down (and I'm not a speed reader!) I couldn't stop reading because I had to know if the plan could work. So far Hannah, who lives in Stamford, has had her work translated into 25 languages and copies sell around the world. As usual, Gold delivers an urgency of pace, courage, and a gradual uplifting of spirit — as April seeks out Bear and discovers there is even more at stake. She faces extreme weather, danger and a race against time (trying not to spoil the surprise!😯) and what an adventure to be had!

But the frozen environment of the tundra in winter is unbelievably hostile to human travel, and despite hiring the most highly skilled (and reluctant!) guide in Longyearbyen, things go badly awry with their Husky-powered expedition. I always wanted to be an author,” she said. I grew up in Hertfordshire and my big dream was to be a children’s author but I spent quite a few years working in different jobs before it came true.” Hannah Gold's third children's book, Finding Bear, follows The Last Bear and The Lost WhaleBeautifully illustrated by Levi Pinfold, Finding Bear is a stunning story of survival, a heartwarming tale of love and shows us how hope is born from the smallest of beginnings. Speaking to British Vogue to announce the long-awaited Girls Aloud reunion, Cheryl opened up about Bear's reaction to finding out that she and Liam are famous. After being asked if Bear may appear on stage during the reunion tour, Cheryl insisted that she's determined for her son to have a 'normal childhood'.

The author’s passion for her subject makes for a powerful and memorable reading experience that will certainly not disappoint the many fans of the award-winning The Last Bear, providing a satisfying and credible outcome which leaves you filled with hope for both April and Bear. The perfect blend of adventure and environmental activism, with real emotional depth. When April discovers that Bear is trying to save his cub, the journey becomes even more urgent as they fight to survive. The reader, while being so wrapped up in April’s emotions and the dramatic action, is also inescapably learning about the impact of climate change on this special environment and the responsibility we all have to protect it. Beautifully illustrated by Levi Pinfold, Finding Bear is a stunning story of survival and a heartwarming tale of love that shows us how hope is born from the smallest of beginnings. Along the way April gets separated from her dad but eventually finds Bear. When he leads her to his cave a surprise awaits her, a polo bear cub who she names Peanut. But there is not enough food for Peanut to survive out in the cold and April knows she must get him to safety.A brilliant, beautiful sequel that resonates with emotional truth. April and Bear's second adventure asks profound questions about our impact on the environment while keeping readers on the edge of their seats. If ever there was a book to spark change, this is it” - Aisling Fowler I'll be waiting eagerly for the book to be published in September, when I will eagerly be grabbing myself a physical copy and having a look at the illustrations in the book, which will no doubt be stunning! I absolutely loved the way that Finding Bear is an adventure story and can be accessed on that initial level, but is so multifaceted in the themes presented that the relatability for all readers is astounding. There are family dynamics as April uncovers her real emotions about Maria arriving in her Dad’s life, the sense of loneliness and the need to belong arises out of April’s difference from her fellow pupils, and the realisation of what creates abiding and enduring love at all levels permeates the entire story, especially through April’s relationship with Bear. Descriptions in this fast paced plot are simply wonderful, conveying the Arctic temperature and inhospitable, threatening environment with razor sharp accuracy so that any reader can experience the cold and dark alongside April. Add in the truly amazing illustrations by Levi Pinfold and Finding Bear is a very special book indeed. It’s been a year since April Wood’s big adventure on Bear Island and she misses it and her best friend Bear terribly.

The unmissable follow-up to the phenomenal bestselling and award-winning The Last Bear . Beautifully illustrated by Levi Pinfold and perfect for readers 8+ Opening up about Bear's childhood, Cheryl admitted that he is no longer 'her baby' and is now a fully fledged little boys with his own opinions, hopes, and dreams. "Bear is delicious and not a baby anymore. We blinked and we're here almost seven," she gushed to British Vogue. The Lost Bear stole a piece of my heart, and Finding Bear has stolen another piece - Hannah has a magical way with words, of telling stories of enduring friendships and of raising awareness about what part we play in changing the world we live in.Few books have touched me so deeply as Finding Bear. When you read it, you’ll feel as if the Arctic is running through your veins, too. It’s impossible not to get profoundly invested in the lives of Hannah Gold’s brilliant characters. An unstoppable, heartwarming sequel of extreme importance. I’ll be recommending this book forever' Carlie Sorosiak -
