This one is a modern, juvenile, sweet/sour gourmand which is not as remotely overpowering as the traditional one you can label as a 'granny' scent (not referring to them as something bad -I love many of those classics in fact, original Far Away included-, but you know, I'm talking about a fragrance with a monster sillage and longevity typical of the 1900's). Far Away is a pretty, oriental fragrance that has some of my most favorite elements, vanilla, sandalwood, white flowers and I love coconut but I don't really get the coconut notes in this. The gardenia is really nice here. It doesn't smell anything like the rest of the Far Away perfumes, the common characteristics of the remainder being long lasting, expensive, wintery, warm, amber/vanilla and occasionally fruity fragrances. This one just didn't hit the mark for me. It smells cheap and the bottle design leaves much to be desired. This is the fragrance that I reach the most for, when I dont know what to wear, or whenever I want an instant boost of happiness.

Describing the smell literally, I'd say its creamy and kind of powdery. The coconut is soft an pretty. Its so tasty yet not gourmand. Its like the taste of..urm..a fluffy milk-flower(use your imagination). So sweet and tender - but literally a super strong perfume. As it settles, the amber, musk, and a bit of the sandalwood really show themselves to be the support of the scent, and this, along with the sweet vanilla, is what takes it from a tropical beach scent to a warm, cozy all-weather scent.To me it is reminiscent of the same peach as Trésor, the same coconut as Angel, and the delicious violet of Insolence. There is also a base of delicious vanilla and creamy sandalwood in there. I got a super cheap small bottle and when it arrived it had a strange cap, so I thought it was a fake. But after some researching I don't think it's fake anymore. Do they even fake Avon? One reason I believe it is real is that it smells really good. Too good to be a fake. And batch code is legit. I went through some tough times and started reaching for my Far Away bottle more and more often. The scent feels like a warm, comforting embrace and made me feel better when I was sad. My mom made me promise I wouldn't use it up, and I emphatically agree not to. I'm not sure I could aquire this again, it's too precious to us, and I'm only applying a bit tonight to review, so tonight and tomorrow are special. Maybe I'll wear just a small amount on her birthday sometimes.
