Gower is a city in Buchanan and Clinton counties in the U.S. state of Missouri and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The population was 1,526 at the 2010 census.

The eastern part of Oxwich Bay Gower is also known as Nicholaston Burrows. However, this is really the dunes behind the beach, which are home to rare lichens and pyramidal orchids. This part of Oxwich Bay beach is a 20-minute walk from the nearest car park, so it’s always very quiet. When it comes to beaches, the Gower Peninsula takes some beating. We have so many long sandy beaches or hidden little coves to choose from that we really are spoilt for choice. Some have won national and international awards, such as Rhossili Bay which has been voted amongst the best beaches in the world and the UK’s best picnic spot. Dog Bans Until 1974, Gower was administered as a rural district. It was then merged with the county borough of Swansea. From 1974 to 1996, it formed the Swansea district. [1] Since 1996, Gower has been administered as part of the unitary authority of the City and County of Swansea.This walk takes you through a beautiful wooded valley to the stunning beach at Pwll Du Bay. It's a delightful tranquil area with the running water of the river and interesting flora and fauna.

Nonetheless, if you’re spending your holidays on Gower, it’s well worth exploring, from the isolated Weobley Castle overlooking Llanrhidian Marsh to the Britannia Inn in Llanmadoc, one of our favourite Gower pubs. If Tor Bay hadn’t been in such exalted company, with Three Cliffs Bay on one side and Oxwich beach the other, it would be considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Wales.

You head along the coast to Mumbles Head where there is a lifeboat station and a nice long pier to stroll out on. From here there are great views out to Mumbles Head and the lighthouse. Mumbles Beach is the continuation of the main Swansea beach. There’s not a lot of it – mainly wet sand deteriorating into mud – but the seafront is one of the best Gower Peninsula walks.

Getting there: On foot from Bishopston village 12. Port Eynon Beach Port Eynon Beach from the headland above Sea pinks on the Port Eynon to Rhossili Walk Llangennith beach is the northern continuation of Rhossili Bay Wales. The Llangennith end of this stupendous beach has always attracted a different crowd to the Rhossili end. It’s one of the best inland Gower walks, well worth going out of your way for, especially in spring when the woods are full of white wild garlic flowers. Rhossili Bay Gower is a three-mile (5 km) swathe of glorious golden sand in the shadow of a raised beach and the steep hill called Rhossili Down. Llangennith beach is situated on the western edge of the Gower Peninsula. It is dog and family-friendly and great for watersports, once again with parking and refreshments.In 1535, the Act of Union resulted in the Lordship of Gower becoming part of the historic county of Glamorgan with the southwest part becoming the hundred of Swansea. The film, Gower Boy, by artist Gee Vaucher and musician Huw Warren— a gentle, contemplative exploration of the Gower Peninsula in Wales—debuted at the 14th Raindance Film Festival (2006) [22] It’s at the western end of the Gower Peninsula, with views to Pembrokeshire in the west and out to Lundy Island to the south-west in the Bristol Channel.

The Gower Peninsula, also known as Penrhyn Gŵyr, showcases breathtaking natural beauty and remains untouched by modern development. Spanning just sixteen miles by seven miles wide, this small region boasts numerous historical landmarks. It holds the distinction of being one of the earliest locations designated as 'An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' under the 1949 Act. Four beaches have Blue Flag beach and Seaside (2006) awards for their high standards: Bracelet Bay, Caswell Bay, Langland Bay and Port Eynon Bay. [12] [13] Five other beaches have been given the Green Coast Award 2005 for "natural, unspoiled environment": Rhossili Bay, Mewslade Bay, Tor Bay, Pwll Du Bay, and Limeslade Bay. Where to eat

A long finger of land stretches into the golden sand, culminating in the jagged three cliffs that give the beach its name. The sands stretch in either direction from Three Cliffs Bay, to Pobbles Bay in the east and Oxwich Bay in the west.
