I liked Katy she is like a tortoise she has made a shell to protect herself from the hurt and disappointment she has suffered in her life. She is very efficient and experienced in sorting out hotels and although the old railway station is not a hotel, she is unfazed by the task. She is also empathetic of what Bob is going through due to her own upbringing. Katy has been a workaholic since her youth, driven by her family's financial crisis. However, due to the lingering effects of the pandemic, the hotel industry has failed to recover, resulting in Katy being laid off. Despite her exceptional skills, there are no job openings available. Uncharacteristically, Katy decides to indulge in a bottle of wine, knowing she doesn't have to wake up early the next day.

I found this book about starting over so charming! I am a big fan of small town romances and the town couldn't get much smaller than Cranfield. After a bumpy start, Katy and Ryan come up with the idea to open a coffee shp in the station's former waiting room. Now all Ryan has to do is convince Katy to stay...for good.

It was great to see the return of characters from Heading Home to Lavender Cottage , especially as they only live down the lane, so it seemed so natural we should seethed, but loved seeing them and their lives. I am definitely hoping the next book is about Ethan and Libby , but I also want Flora too, so many great characters I need to read their stories too. The first floor landing leads to two double bedrooms, shower room and storage cupboard with has access into the eaves. Katy’s character was perfect for this story, and I simply loved her metamorphosis as she evolved from paragon of fashion to one of the girls. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with power dressing, but there’s a time and a place, in my world. To summarize, New Beginnings on Railway Lane is a cute, sweet, and light-hearted romance with strong supporting characters and a charming setting. This works great as a standalone but will be more enjoyable if you read book one. What I really enjoyed about this was the collective desire to revamp the train station and get it going again. I know it's on a large scale, but we get so used to throwing things away, that it was lovely to see a group of people determined to give something new life rather than simply walking away from it.
