Description

The UX3000 can easily be transformed into a pair of wired headphones when the battery runs out by simply connecting the headphones to the source with the included audio cable. The physical design of the UX3000 is pretty typical for Bluetooth headphones. It has an all-plastic body with a generously padded headband. Interestingly, these headphones have the same SHIBO finish as the final ZE3000 TWS earphones; this is great because it means they’re resistant to fingerprints and it adds an element of interest to an otherwise spartan design. Furthermore, the plastic used for these headphones appears to be the same one that the ZE3000 is made from. Norah Jones’ voice in Don’t Know Why is tremendously expressive in tone, given lots of space, capturing the changes in the cadence of her voice with an acute sense of dynamism. The rich and warmth the Final offer makes for a smooth performance, instruments described in a natural tone, brightness of higher frequencies expressed brightly and with weightiness to the bass. The Final UX3000 show themselves to be a sparkling, nuanced performer at this price. Moving on to the controls they are positioned at the bottom of the earcups. On the left cup, you have that ANC button and USB-C port for charging. Please note you need to turn the ANC off when finished using the headphones otherwise it will drain the battery. Safe to say the UX3000 don’t indulge in such cheap nonsense. They’re about fidelity and realism – so while they may not sound the most 'exciting' on first acquaintance, they are far, far easier to live with in the long run.

The soundstage they describe is spacious, wide and roomy with Fleetwood Mac’s Gold Dust Woman, which affords the various instruments space to exist and contributes to an enjoyable stereo image and depth. Their sense of timing across the frequency range is engaging, the soundstage coherently put together, offering some more space between instruments than the Cleer model.

Design, Build and Comfort

I want the headphones to be rugged and have a neutralish sound signature that's more on the side of fun than flat, but accurate enough for editing on the go.

Thanks to the dynamic driver that final has developed for the UX3000, there’s very little sign of distortion in the audio, even with the volume levels turned up. The headphones don’t rattle or buzz and despite their light build, they feel incredibly solid. These headphones would be great for studio use too. The Final Audio UX3000 don’t look or feel anything special, despite an interesting finish to most of the plastics used in their construction. But their specifications, which includes aptX Low Latency Bluetooth, a long battery life, and active noise cancellation, go a long way towards making up for it. Plus, their relatively modest size and weight makes them a realistic proposition for anyone that wants to listen in comfort.
