Molludab ® (5% potassium hydroxide), a topical treatment licensed for use from the age of two years. It is used BD until the lesions become inflamed, which often takes around five days, at which stage the treatment can be stopped. If there is no inflammation by day 14 the treatment should be stopped

Molluscum contagiosum is a self-limiting infection which typically resolves itself within 6 – 12 months but may take as long as 4 years. However, certain cases can take far longer to resolve, and patients are often highly embarrassed about their condition 2. Diagnosing molluscum contagiosumMost papules are 2-5 mm in size. Occasionally lesions can reach 1 cm or greater in diameter, this is particularly so with solitary lesions Jansen et al. There are no known interactions with medicinal products. However, as aprecaution, do not apply MolluDab on to the affected area at the sametime as other products.
