Description

The SF600 Platinum is currently Corsair's flagship SFX model offering a notable efficiency increase compared against the plain SF600. The question is whether it is worth paying a premium price tag to get it or if it would make more sense to opt for the more affordable Gold rated SF600. Not be subject to a decision which is based solely on automated processing where that decision produces a GPU mfrs' recommended PSU capacities are always inflated to compensate for the mediocre ( or worse ) PSUs that flood the mainstream and OEM space. A 980 Ti will pull at most 250W - 275W, depending on OC, during a heavy gaming load. Torture tests can go above 300W, but no one mines with an ITX box. Adding the 130W you'll see from the rest of a typical i7 system, you'd rarely see this go above 400W. That's an 88% load on a 450W PSU. Tight, but certainly not risky or dangerous. As I constantly remind people, my i7 + 290X test bed runs just fine on a 500W PSU, and that GPU is a lot hungrier than the 980 Ti.

The temperatures stay low, although we pushed the minor rails hard. So it doesn't come as a surprise that we measure higher temperatures on the voltage regulation modules, used for the generation of the minor rails. The ATX specification (revision 1.4), along with CEC, ErP Lot 3 2014 and ErP Lot 6 2010/2013, states that the 5VSB standby supply efficiency should be as high as possible, recommending 75 percent or higher with 550mA, 1A, and 1.5A of load. The efficiency has been upgraded to 80 PLUS Platinum and in the Cybenetics scale it is ETA-A. When it comes to noise output the unit achieves a LAMBDA-A rating which is fully satisfactory, given the SFX form factor and the 600W capacity.SF600 combines the advantages of SF100 with additional improvements: High-speed USB and higher SPI performances. SF Platinum models are manufacturer by Great Wall, the same OEM who helped create the SF Gold units. The latter offer top performance, the best in the respective SFX wattage categories – so improving this platform surely was a difficult task. b. comply with legal obligations we are subject to; meet our obligations required by the law, by national log info. The supply should also achieve higher than 75% efficiency at 5VSB under full load, or with 3A if its max current output on this rail is higher than 3A.The following graph shows the total performance rating of the SF600 Platinum, comparing it to other units we have tested. To be more specific, the tested unit is shown as 100 percent, and every other unit's performance is shown relative to it. You have several rights under data-protection law in relation to how we use your personal information. Currently the SF600 Platinum is the best SFX unit that money can buy today. It sports super tight load regulation, high efficiency, good transient response, clean voltage rails and the cherry on top is the quiet operation even under extremely tough conditions. Moreover, its build quality is top-notch and it is covered by a seven year warranty. When a military installation or Government - related facility(whether or not specifically named) is

As a note, there is a picture later on in the review that shows the SF600 powering dual GTX 980s. This is not possible out of the box, it requires PCIe 6-pin splitters to get the necessary number of connectors to power both of the cards. These are the PCIe cables it comes with: In the primary side Infineon FETs are used and the medium capacity bulk cap is provided by Chemi-Con, while in the secondary side the +12V FETs are installed on the solder side of the main PCB. Typically a pair of DC-DC converters handle the minor rails and the 5VSB rail uses an advanced PWM controller, for high efficiency and minimized vampire power levels.Clearly visible here is the 92mm fan that cools the power supply. The wire grill minimizes airflow restriction but is more expensive compared to just stamping the fan vent out of the housing so it’s nice to see Corsair go the extra mile on their first SFF PSU. The SF600 comes with the 24-pin motherboard cable, two 6+2 PCIe cables, CPU power cable, one strand of Molex connector, and one strand of SATA connectors. Cable lengths shown in the table below:
