Description

B.w. anybody know ingredients and MSDS ordynary "Tamiya Cement"? Non bottle ordynary "Tamiya Cement" written: "Component Element: 12% Synthetic Resin 88% Styrene Organic Solvent" but of course the chemical composition of these components is not indicated.

The extra thin cement is easy to use once you get the hang of it. With traditional liquid cement, you would apply the cement to a part and then you would attach it where it belongs. With extra thin cement, the steps are a bit different. Optionally, once the cement is in the joint, you can press the halves more firmly. This will cause some of the melted plastic to run out of the joint line basically filling the resulting seam line. If done properly, there’s no need for putty. I then used it to assemble two wing tank halves. The glue dried to the touch in a 1/2 hour. It was ready to sand in about an hour. I then sanded the seam and the glued joint was smooth. As you would probably expect, there are differences in the chemical compounds used to produce these two types of cement. As no strange, but the most difficult thing here is to buy acetone, good industrial quality .... with butyl acetate, it was more of a problem to find a convenient suitable glass container with a capacity of one liter, because where I bought butyl acetate, they sell it from one liter. But the problem is that my local hobby-shop does not have a cleaner either, but the factory and the household market have chemical components for making this glue myself. So then I tried using it on a scrap model joining two fuel tank halves. After 24 hours, the glue joint never fully cured, dried or evaporated and did not bond the parts together. I could easily pull the apart. I found out the hardware store here sells MEK (but in 3.5 litre tin) so I am going to get it, mix with the Acetone I have lying around the house.

Capillary action will cause the cement to run between the two parts and the cement will partially melt the plastic and fuse the parts together. What do you think? It's possible..right? If so, then I will probably trash it and get a new bottle. Perhaps I was wrong in buying this and should have gotten the green bottle of regular Tamiya extra thin instead. Liquid type plastic cement that is designed to work with plastic models and other similar plastic materials found in model making. This EXTRA THIN formula cement is used to glue together plastic model kits that use polystyrene plastic. The extra thin formula allows the modeler to glue together small pieces that require pin point accuracy and finesse. If you did, you could use their airbrush cleaner instead, which contains the same solvents in an almost identical ratio.Mixed them and tried them firstly to join some plastic pipe and then to fix together some kit parts. Yes, both extra-thin cement versions by Tamiya are toxic and extremely flammable liquids. Make sure you have enough ventilation in the room where you are planning to build models as the cement can easily cause headaches for some people. A good-quality respirator is a good investment for model builders. And that’s especially true when you also use an airbrush to paint your models. and Mr. Hobby Mr.Cement something with the help, I took this advice ...in results, now I have 1 liter "Tamiya Extra Thin Cement" my own manufacturing! 😉 😁 😎 My only complaint about this stuff, is that the cap is too smooth and it is hard to get a grip when opening and closing. My fingers would slip easily. (Any suggestions on how to make the cap "grip"?) Like its earlier counter part, it stinks to high heaven due to the solvent levels. Prolonged use does give headaches so that has to be factored in when using it.

Pro tip: If you are planning to buy the original Tamiya Extra Thin, you may be able to save some money. As mentioned above, the cement is a simple mixture of butyl acetate and acetone. Curiously, Tamiya also has a product called Tamiya Airbrush Cleaner. And the airbrush cleaner is the exact same mixture of butyl acetate and acetone. Funnily enough, the 250 ml bottle of airbrush cleaner is cheaper than the 40 ml bottle of cement. Go figure. Of course, with the cleaner, you are not getting the fine brush in the lid of the bottle. A good way to save some money might be to buy one bottle of the Tamiya Extra Thin cement and then use the cleaner as a refill. Ok, so what follows are a series of short HD videos where I give you an overview of the range of glues and adhesives I use, followed by separate entries showing each one in a little more detail and how to use it.The aim of this series of entries in your SMN Techniques Bank is to help anyone who wants to know more about the different types of glue out there and what they should, and can, be used for. This is especially aimed at any of you who are returning to scale modelling after a long break or perhaps new to the hobby – there is certainly a bewildering choice of products readily available and this entry covers my suggestions and I hope you find it helpful. Limonene is a chemical added to change the smell to stop solvent abuse or remove the strong smell so its more friendly to children. So I ran out of this and the LHS are all closed but not the hardware stores. I began searching for the ingredients and found the MSDS. So sharing here for record and in case others want to know. I had a roll of "blue painters tape" that I got in the dollar store on my bench. The tape has a rough texture on it, so it has some "grip". So I cut a small piece and wrapped it around the glue bottle cap....

A couple of years ago there were almost no alternatives to Tamiya’s extra-thin cement. But nowadays many companies dealing in the plastic scale modeling business have brought their own versions of extra thin cement. I began searching for the ingredients and found the MSDS. So sharing here for record and in case others want to know. According to the contents it also contains acetone. Plumbers that I have worked with used it for waste pipesHowever there is a simple solution. I am your saviour Mark. I will let you into the secret. It is called ---- no no not yet.
