You can buy either or none no matter your situation and the world will keep spinning for the foreseeable future. Dynamic DNS (DDNS) is a relatively common feature of all home routers. It’s excellent for those wanting to dial home remotely via other advanced features, including remote access or VPNs. b. Replacing Cox Gateway (deactivate router but keep the fiber ONT) with 2 Wi-Fi Mesh ASUS Wi-Fi routers. Coming to wireless connectivity, the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 is tri-band and supports one 6GHz, one 5GHz and one 2.4GHz band. If you are using a wired mesh method, you can have all three bands available for your clients or devices and this is the best option to use with this router. If you prefer meshing it wirelessly then the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 will try to connect the units over the 6GHz band as that will likely be the least crowded band.

In a Dual-WAN setup, you can use any other LAN port including its 2.5Gbps LAN as the secondary WAN. Based on my understanding of your posts, either of the three ASUS ET12, ASUS ET8, and ASUS XT8 should meet my objectives. I’m leaning toward ET8 as it has many features of ET12 including 6E, given there are no new firmware issues since your last review.Wi-Fi standards: Wi-Fi 7 | Wi-Fi 6E| UNII-4 (5.9GHz) | Wi-Fi 6 | What is Wi-Fi? | Wi-Fi antennas (dBi) | Wi-Fi broadcasting/signal power (dBm)

When it comes down to it, the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 is one of the fastest Wi-Fi systems you can buy and there’s no getting around that. The thing is, most of us simply don’t need this kind of power in our homes. We never noticed any problems with dropping signals or internet instability, and we didn't come across even a hint of latency either. There's no doubt that this kit is going to improve Wi-Fi coverage in the majority of homes, but whether or not it's going to improve it to the extent that it justifies its cost really depends on how your property is configured and the sort of home Wi-Fi network you've already got in place. If you already use a mesh system like we do, you might not see huge speed gains. If, for example, you already have a high-end router like the ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000, you can use the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 nodes to expand your coverage. You can also use some slower and more compact nodes like the ZenWiFi ET8 to expand your mesh without giving up 6GHz connectivity. It’s hard to put the coverage in a concrete number — it varies depending on the environment — but if you have a house of fewer than 3000 ft 2 (279 m 2), place it in the middle, and chances are one of its bands will reach every corner. The Asus ZenWiFi Pro ET12’s performance as a single routerThe interface allows access to a router’s tons of settings and features — some are listed below. Savvy networking enthusiasts will love that though it can be overwhelming for novice users. Dynamic DNS On the other hand, as a Wi-Fi 6E device, the Zen Wi-Fi Pro ET12 has a 2.4GHz band, a 5GHz band, and a 6GHz band. ASUS uses its AiMesh platform with both the ZenWiFi line and its standalone routers. That means you can build a mesh with almost any modern ASUS system. As a result, you won’t need to program the new router from scratch in an upgrade or replacement. Instead, most of your network’s configurations — including those of an AiMesh system — will migrate from the old router to the new one.

QoS: How Quality of Service betters your online experience The ZenWiFi Pro ET12’s QoS feature is similar to most other Asus routers. In the two weeks I spent with ZenWiFi Pro ET12, performance was nearly perfect. There was one issue where the Zenfone 8 I use to test 6GHz connectivity on all Wi-Fi 6E routers refused to stay connected to the 6GHz band on this router. Still, if you’re OK with spending the money on this kit, you’ll probably be very happy with your speeds. You’ll also be ready for internet connection over 1Gbps which are starting to become more common on both Cable and Fiber connections.

Connect your router’s WAN port to the Internet source, be it a modem, an existing gateway, or the Fiberoptic ONT. Turn it on.Per Asus’s router naming convention, the number in the ZenWiFi Pro ET12 indicates the number of streams the router has.
