Description

The Fujifilm X100V is a beautiful camera to look at, and feels very solid in my hands despite its small size. The top and bottom plates are aluminum, and the front of the body has a textured satin finish. I have experienced no premature wear or markings on the body, and like all of my Fuji cameras, the X100V appears to be built for long term use.

When I first got the X-T2, I read the Fujifilm X-T2 manual and relevant sections of Rico Pfirstinger’s book, “The Fujifilm X-T2: 120 X-Pert Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Camera” to configure some critical features in the menus and set up the Fn buttons. Currently, the only menu items I use regularly are “format SD card” and “select film simulation”. Again, who cares? Neither of these lenses makes much difference; the WCL-X100 II isn't much wider and the TCL-X100 II isn't much longer. I tape a small piece of 1/2 CTO gel over my flash when shooting against a sunset (leave the X100V at AUTO WB), or a full CTO when shooting under tungsten (with tungsten white balance). Just cut a small piece from the big sheet and use some Scotch Magic Tape to hold it over the flash. Don't tape over the part through which the flash shines. Moreover, I noticed that the lens can be a bit slow to react to what you and the camera are seeing. It's nothing deal-breaking, but when you consider how well the autofocus performs (more on that later), you do need to account for it. As such, it can lead to some missed shots if you don't time them right. Hence, if you're trying to capture fast-moving objects, like passing cars, it can be a bit of a challenge. Small In Size, But Mighty In Image Quality Oh, then I must have thought that it had to do with it, and it cleared itself up at the same time I removed soft release, making me think it was because of it.

The new Q menu now allows complete customization like other new Fujifilm bodies. A set of 4, 8, 12, or 16 customizable tiles is now available depending on your needs. No more wasted space is taken up by what Fujifilm thinks is important for you anymore. It almost seems strange that with a brand new lens and sensor to get excited about, one of my most enjoyed features of the new camera is actually a customizable menu.Firstly, the X100V is mostly able to confidently focus in even the lowest light. This is a huge improvement over previous models that would struggle unless good contrast was present. This improvement also carries over into bright and high-contrast situations, where the camera barely hunts anymore. Since the X100V uses the same X-Trans 4 sensor we see in models like the X-T4, the whole frame is covered by PDAF pixels now. These are faster and more accurate than the old CDAF/PDAF array, and the result is the improved speed and low-light ability I mentioned above.

Thumb grips attach to the camera using the hotshoe and provide a more comfortable position to place your thumb and hold the camera. Using thumb grips is very much down to personal choice, but with the X100V and X100 series cameras being so small, it can be useful for photographers with larger hands. Choose whether the front command dial can be used to adjust aperture when aperture is set to A (auto). Option

You only can set ISO 160 ~ 12,800 on the dial; for the other speeds set the ISO Dial to "C" and then set ISO with the front (unmarked) command dial. Only ISO 160 ~ 12,800 works with the electronic shutter or movies; use the regular leaf (mechanical) shutter for the full range from (L) 100 to (H) 51,200. The Domke F-34R 11in Protective Wrap is a simple yet effective accessory that can be used to wrap and protect your Fujifilm X100V so it can be carried in any bag without fear of damage. Velcro strips at each corner allow the Domke F-34R to be firmly secured around the camera or other item to be protected. On the bottom plate of the X100V there is a tripod mount, and a single door. Under the door you’ll find a single SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot and the battery port. Fuji uses the old NP-W126S battery for the X100V which is rated at 350 shots, but I’m regularly able to get 400-500 shots since I don’t shoot video and prefer the OVF.
