Eventually, Tony Stark managed to recover and witnessed the arrival of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Wakandans, Asgardians and the rest of their resurrected allies, eventually participating in the battle against Thanos. He was seen taking out many of Thanos' forces alongside Pepper Potts with her armor. He eventually faced Cull Obsidian, almost being overwhelmed had it not for the efforts of Spider-Man and Ant-Man. It can travel far into space because of the technology of the Mark XX which makes it use less energy. It can also travel underwater like the Mark XXXVII because the armor is strong enough to withstand the crushing pressures deep under the ocean. It can also travel fast underwater. Tony Stark creates the prototype version of the prehensile technology system after testing the separate functional capabilities on the Mark XLI.

Smart Micro-Guns: The Mark XLIII, like most of the other armors, is also armed with a miniaturized weapons system concealed beneath the shoulder plates that could fire a total of twelve shots at a time, six from each shoulder, and used a computer guiding system to fire at multiple individual enemies, in different positions, at the same time. Tony was shown to use this weapon system to incapacitate the HYDRA henchmen during the raid on the HYDRA outpost in Sokovia. The Mark XLII vividly features extremely powerful Electromagnetism. The much more powerful Electromagnets are the results of the armor's Enhanced Directed Energy Reactor, the feature first conceived on the Mark XXXIII. The Electromagnetic Gauntlets of Mark XLII are extremely enhanced. The single hand using an Electromagnetic Gauntlet can carry more than 12 people (with metallic objects such as name tags.) onto the Mark XLII. This is proven in Iron Man 3, wherein Tony Stark saves more than 10 people through the use of his Electromagnets. Such powerful electromagnets can be used as a ripping weapon. Flight: Like all other armors, the Mark XLIV has flight capabilities, although given its size, its speed and mobility are reduced.

Collapsible Plating: A design adapted from the Mark V and Mark VII, the armor plating could open and close up from head to toe and allow the user to seamless step in and out of the suit at will. Unibeam: Like all the previous Armors, Mark LXXXV is capable of firing an energy blast directly from its central arc reactor. Ironically, Mark XLIV managed to successfully defeat the Hulk, unlike its comic version, who never managed to do it without being completely destroyed in the process.

Superhuman Physiology: The armor amplifies its pilot's strength to superhuman levels, enough for Tony Stark to battle and eventually overpower Ultron in his early bodies. The armor gives its user superhuman durability, allowing it and its user to remain completely bulletproof, while also withstanding explosions or even energy blasts such as those used in HYDRA's weapons or in Ultron's concussive beams.Its appearance and design is reversed from the original design of the former armors. Whereas the areas with Red plating from its former armors are now covered with the gold ones and the same style goes with the Red plates of the armor.

Showcasing prehensile tech known as the “call and response system,” this armor is designed for maximum agility and features a built-in repair system.It was initially thought that there would be no Mark XLIII after the film Iron Man 3, but after much speculation and argument over the media, Marvel finally confirmed that the next armor would be the Mark XLIII. Denying all claims that there would be no more armors or that the Mark XLIII would not be created whatsoever.
