This 1948 Floral fragrance by Francis Fabron, was most famously worn in the film Silence of the Lambs (1991), by Jodie Foster's character, Clarice, which many reviewers have also noted. I'm not scared of aldehydes or carnation (Gloria Vanderbilt is among my favorite fragrances) but this one is more a loud floral than a soft, melty floral like GV.

My Sweet Auntie, who just passed away almost 3 weeks ago, wore this as her signature scent--along with Prince Matchabelli's Wind Song. Created in 1948, L’Air du Temps by Nina Ricci is an ode to peace, love and freedom—values embodied by the two entwined doves perched atop the perfume’s iconic bottle.

Iconic fragrance, but also one of the most clever use of aldehydes as supporting notes instead of loud main notes. I first fell in love with this perfume when I was a little girl - my mom had it, and it was magical compared to the Soviet perfumes made by Novaya Zarya.

This is my

Yes it's primarily a floral, but to my nasal detection it's more of one or the other kind of flower.

I'm so glad I took a chance and blind bought L'Air du Temps based on Fragrantica reviews and my passion for unsung Proper Perfume heroes of the past. This is one of those perfumes that you either love or hate, and its intended for those with very patient and specific preferences in fragrance quality. Recently I was given a bottle of LdT by a loved one and it instantly brought back halcyon memories of my late grandmother. It smells like the friends of my mom, friends of my grandma - there is such familiarity when smelling this. When I was growing up, we had a small bottle of l'air du Temps on the vanity counter where my sisters and I would do our hair and makeup in the mornings.

Its opening is spicy and aldehydic and then it settles as a somewhat soapy and powdery carnation perfume. It's quite an honor to have this in my collection, the cap is the best thing ever, it's the typical case of real, raw and living history in art. Very short lived in either edt or edp but I couldn’t imagine something so sublime being strident, heavy or suffocating everyone around you.It is a classic scent - maybe not so wearable by people used to modern perfumes, but smelling this just fills me with comfort. Symbolising love, elegance and freedom, Nina Ricci L'Air du Temps Eau de Parfum was developed in 1948 after the World War II, and remains one of the greatest fragrance creations today.
