Description

This is the most common problem for users self hosting the UniFi Network Server, especially those using Windows. Ensure that your power and network connections are secure. If they are, but your issue persists, we recommend using our UniFi cables for optimal compatibility and performance. Verify Your UniFi Console's Internet Connection

The Ubiquiti UniFi AC Mesh Wi-Fi Access Point is a simultaneous dual-band, 2x2 MIMO meshing access point designed specifically for large indoor and outdoor deployments. Capable of speeds up to 1200Mbps and supporting up to 100 clients per AP, the UAP-AC-M is perfect for demanding environments such as public parks, shopping centres or for providing whole campus Wi-Fi. With the UniFi controller software you can create a highly scalable, end-to-end system of devices spanning multiple locations across the world — all controlled by a single interface accessed via the Internet or local network. Open TCP Port 8080 and UDP Port 10001 locally (LAN) on all gateways, firewalls, and antivirus software.

AC Long-Range

All UniFi devices have a Reset button. You can return a device to a factory-default state by holding this for 5-10 seconds (depending on the device), or until the LEDs indicate the restore has begun. Your device must remain powered during this process. UniFi can also be self-hosted on a Windows/macOS/Linux machine, but this is only recommended for users proficient with network administration, because it requires constant and precise attention. You’ll need to manually configure your network for sufficient communication between UniFi Network and all of your networking devices. Success hinges on your ability to continuously navigate various third-party software, firewalls and other networking devices. With supports for multi-hop meshing the UniFi AC Mesh can be deployed just about anywhere without each access point requiring existing data infrastructure. Just connect an 24v Passive or 802.3af power supply and ensure the device is with range of another access point and the UAP-AC-M can start extending existing Wi-Fi coverage.

Factory reset the device by holding the power button for 10 seconds, or until the light begins flashing. Two adjustable external omni antennas are included with the UniFi AC Mesh Access Point. There is also the option to expand the coverage range and customise pattern shaping by using the included fast-mount adapter to install the AP on an optional connectorised antenna. UniFi Controller Software Note: Both APs must use the same channel or else you risk breaking your meshed connection . Make sure you have a suitable RF environment before using wireless meshing. Note: Wireless Meshing must be enabled in your Network Application settings. Mesh networks should only be supplemental. A factory reset is useful for a creating fresh setup of a UniFi Console, or device that was already configured in a managed state. Restoring with the Reset ButtonRemove any restrictive firewall rules that would prevent IP connectivity between the device and console. This will occur if the device was managed by another instance of a UniFi application. This includes cases where the UniFi Console (e.g., Dream Machine Pro, or Cloud Key) was factory restored, because the UniFi device still considers itself as being managed by the 'old' application console, prior to restoration. All UniFi devices can be restored to their factory defaults via their respective web or mobile applications. This is located in the Manage section of a device’s settings. Depending on the application, this may be referred to as Forget (UniFi Network) or Unmanage (UniFi Protect). Although you can uplink one wireless AP to another wireless AP, this is not recommended. Each wireless 'hop' from its internet source will reduce stability, and will also result in nearly 50% performance decrease. Due to this, we recommend a maximum of only two hops for a wireless AP. Minimize the number of APs connected to the same uplink 'parent.'

We recommend having a signal strength of at least -60 dBm between your wireless AP and its wired uplink. Lesser signal strengths may result in performance and stability issues. This can be improved by moving your wireless AP closer to its wired uplink. Also, try to keep a clear line of sight, minimizing obstruction from walls and other large objects. We recommend our default settings. Regional regulations must be observed when deploying radio equipment. More info Power Input Power Consumption For the best setup experience, we recommend updating to the latest version and ensuring that automatic updates are enabled. Open All Required Ports The quoted wireless specification is given as the maximum radio performance. Achievable range and throughput will vary depending on the regional regulations where the radio is deployed.A mesh network consists of access points (AP) that are wirelessly connected to each other with client devices connected wirelessly to them, opposed to everything being hardwired to your network. This enables you to minimize dead-zones and create a continuous wireless network when it is difficult to run cable to certain locations. Although multiple wireless APs can mesh to the same uplink, this is not recommended. This creates large amounts of interference and puts an abnormally high load on the parent AP, which will degrade speed and connection stability. Make sure there is a strong signal between your wirelessly meshed APs.
