We take care to make sure product details are correct but the information shown, including vegan and vegetarian suitability, ingredients, and alcohol by volume (ABV) may change. Hot chocolate season is upon us, and that means marshmallows. Soft and pillowy, bouncy and sweet, tender, chewy marshmallows. Maybe it's just us, but even with the summertime s'more craze, winter seems to be the true marshmallow season. There's just something delightfully wintery about a marshmallow's pure white sweetness, perfectly complimenting so many warm and cozy treats.

Crimes’ first release is arguably still its best and most popular bottle. Th e Cabernet Sauvignon is a delicious, easy-to-drink, full-bodied red with all the classic juiciness and dark red fruit flavors you expect in a good Cabernet. To awaken the glow in the dark, expose the label to natural light during the day for the skeletons to come to life in the dark of the night. Crimes’ only white is described as a “hard” Chardonnay, a medium-bodied wine with the typical oily, honey-like consistency one expects in a rich Chardonnay. For its first stride into California wine, 19 Crimes partnered with Snoop Dogg to release Snoop Cali Red, A red blend made from 65 percent petite Syrah, 30 percent Zinfandel, and 5 percent Merlot, all sourced from California. Following the red blend, 19 Crimes released Snoop Cali Rosé in summer 2021. Given the popularity of both wines, it’s safe to say that the 19 Crimes/Snoop Dogg partnership will be releasing many more wines in the future. The Warden is a Shiraz-based red blend with tons of richness and complexity. On the nose, there is ample plum, currant, and cherry intermixed with vanilla and cinnamon spice. According to u/Brassafax, they’d never encountered the specific list used by 19 Crimes in their marketing materials before; however, they did note, “It is true that throughout 1760-1820, a variety of lists were published dubbed ‘ Crimes denominated single felonies; punishable by transportation, whipping, imprisonment, the pillory, and hard labour in houses of corrections, according to the nature of the offence.” What’s more, these lists did generally include roughly 20 offences, give or take a few depending on the list; it’s therefore possible that one does exist somewhere with the version 19 Crimes uses for their brand identity.

The brand relies heavily on the clever marketing tactics of its augmented reality app and collectible corks to drive sales, and it certainly allows their bottles to stand out on the shelf. If you’re looking for an affordable, easy-to-drink, fun bottle of wine, this is the brand for you. Bright red to crimson hues, this wine confidently takes charge with intense lifted vanilla aromatics balanced with red currants, violets, and mulberry fruits. Firm and full on the palate with a subtle sweetness giving a rich mouth feel. Every detail of 19 Crimes right down to the cork is memorable and initiating. This, my fellow rouges, is a wine brand with options to pairs with a night in alone or a raucous dinner party with your band of misfits. Crimes is a wonderful example of modern winemaking at its best. Here is a brand that anyone can enjoy and appreciate, that allows fans to interact with their bottles on a personal level, and that brings forth the cultural significance of the region it represents. The other 19 Crimes’ original is a delightful red blend, made with Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache. Aged in American oak, this blend has a fairly large amount of sugar lingering in the final product, which makes it a great table wine when you desire something on the sweeter side.

It also certainly doesn’t hurt that each bottle comes with a fun little tidbit of history, and the opportunity to hear from the characters themselves via the 19 Crimes app. It’s a wonderful way for novice wine collectors to explore the fun of trying each bottle and gathering all 19 corks.

However, the classics will always be the best bet, in my opinion. The Cabernet Sauvignon is rich, smooth, and just what you want in a dark red that you can sip throughout the night. It pairs well with anything from steak to chocolate cake but can stand on its own as well. This lovely Australian variation on a classic Pinot provides nice smokey, spicy undertones to a wine that showcases lots of bright cherry and strawberry fruits. The Uprising pays homage to Australia's "Rum Rebellion" of 1808. Due to the Government's hindering of the rum trade, the rebellion was the only time a group of soldiers and citizens banded together to overthrow the Government.
