Description

The Space Marines are the Emperor’s will made manifest. They are his Angels of Death, descending to the battlefield from mighty warships to cleanse the foes of Mankind from the face of the galaxy. For ten thousand years, the Space Marine Chapters have been the shield and sword against the horrors that beset Humanity. Genetically enhanced super-soldiers, they are among the greatest warriors to have ever existed. They are stronger, faster and more resilient than the Humans they are sworn to protect. They are psycho-indoctrinated from youth, rendering them immune to fear and staunchly loyal. On the battlefield they are relentless, determined warriors who will stop at nothing to achieve victories nigh on impossible for unaugmented soldiery to achieve. The set also includes 1x Space Marine Infantry Transfer Sheet, 1x Primaris Character Transfer Sheet and 1x Primaris Vehicle Transfer Sheet. These kits come with 1x 90mm round base, 1x 75mm Ball Top Stem, 9x 40mm round bases, and 20x 32mm round bases. They are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel paints. Storm Speeder Hailstrike (can instead be assembled as a Storm Speeder Hammerstrike or Storm Speeder Thunderstrike) Decorate your hearth with bolter, melta, and flamer, for this box has ‘em all and more. Along with a Sister Dogmata and a squad each of Battle Sisters and Celestian Sacresants, this force also includes two giant tanks that will definitely add a little spice to your holiday carnage. The Rohan Stronghold comes with a veritable village of houses, as well as palisade walls and watchtowers which let you make your very own Rohan settlement.

The real shame of this box is that Sisters tanks just don’t see much play. While Exorcists were a mainstay of Sisters armies prior to their 2021 codex, modern competitive forces rely much more on foot-slogging lists, potentially with the support of a rhino or two. That said, Immolators do see some use in good lists here and there – most recently at the North and South GT in a top 4 list, where taking 1-2 can give you a tough, mobile source of multi-melta shots, and a recent September GT-winning list featured an Exorcist, and neither are bad units. Beyond that, the Sacresants and battle sisters are must-haves in every Adepta Sororitas army and the Dogmata shows up in most, making this a box that’s great for new players and potentially still a good value for players looking to add to their army who don’t mind adding a couple of tanks. Final Verdict: Good Value Also, it’s interesting to note that Necrons in 2020 and Orks in 2021 were actually probably the newest released factions to grab a box (even though it had been months since their new codex dropped at that point). As we said, there was a list of disproven rumors for this year’s Battleforces, but some of the armies included were pretty obvious, with Space Marines etc. The Lumineth Realm-Lords roll out the Vanari Shining Host as well, with archers, cavalry, and of course, a staunch line of spears to hold the enemy at bay. Games Workshop recently dropped all sorts of teasers about the upcoming 2022 Christmas releases, including something spicy about battleforces! Thanks to Warhammer Community, we know there will be a whopping eight Warhammer 40k Christmas Battleforces in 2022. That is huge, as starting in 2016, there were only eight battleforces altogether for both AoS and Warhammer 40k total! The Warhammer Vault is also getting spooky as the lore from Malign Portents is conjured into digital format, alongside White Dwarf 467, from August this year which goes deep on the design of Dominion, as well as rules for frostbitten battles between Hive Fleet Leviathan and the Dark Krakens in Flashpoint Octarius. If you haven’t already, this is a fantastic time to explore the new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Four giant Battleforces thunder onto the scene this year to either expand your existing army or to help you take the plunge into the Era of the Beast. Battleforce: Soulblight Gravelords Revenant Legion Update: Some prices have been revealed online. Both Valrak and Foyble have done a breakdown. (massive thanks to these hobby heroes). We have updated the article below and will continue to do so, but please treat these as indicative only, untl the prices have been formally revealed

Finally the Mortisan Tithe-Echelon will collect your bones and use them to make more bones. You get Mortek Guard, a Mortek Crawler, and enough bones to satisfy any doctor. Both Characters can make battlefield repairs on the Dreadnoughts, with Feirros restoring 3 wounds every turn, so it’ll take some serious firepower to bring them down. Just add a few Gladiator tanks and you’ll prove that the flesh is weak and the machine is strong. Next week the Warhammer Twitch channel will host The US Open 2021 Finale, which is taking place in Texas on the 4th and 5th of December. This even brings the series to an exhilarating finale, and you’ll be able to watch the action live, with commentary.

What We Know About Warhammer Battleforces Since 2016

While those of you in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand can start collecting your bone tithe right now, this box will be dropping a little later for the rest of the world. In this box, a Captain and his entourage of Bladeguard Veterans lead a balanced heavy infantry force of 10 Intercessors, 10 Assault Intercessors, and five Heavy Intercessors. Meanwhile, a fast and agile Storm Speeder Hailstrike is perfect for flanking enemy forces, or taking down hard targets when built either as the Hammerstrike or Thunderstrike variant. So, while those rumors were fake, Space Marines are super likely, but on the other end of the spectrum, we’re definitely not getting Leagues of Votann, Imperial Guard, or World Eaters. December 2021 – and sorry if that’s not 100% clear. All we have to go on right now is the few words the community team have put out.

These cranky killing machines are off to reclaim the galaxy by force, and this box comes with more than enough firepower to do just that, with Lokhust Heavy Destroyers and Canoptek Doomstalkers. You will also get a Psychomancer, a squad of Necron Warriors, and melee support in the form of Flayed Ones and Ophydian Destroyers. Adeptus Mechanicus Battleforce: Omnissiah’s Talon Remember previously, there are generally only four boxes for AoS, so the choices are slightly more limited and more pronounced for them. Where Do the Battleforce Contents Come From? Recommended paints: White Scar , Celestra Grey , Soulblight Grey , Mephiston Red , Wild Rider Red Space Marines: Scions of Macragge

Do you like Intercessors? Good, then this box is for you. 25 of the 29 models in this battleforce are some flavor of Intercessor, whether your preference be assault, chunky, or vanilla. Rounding out the box are three Bladeguard Veterans, the least interesting Primaris Captain, and a Storm Speeder for folks who are curious about how long a T6 flyer with no invulnerable save will survive. The box is okay. Not great, not terrible. Existing Space Marine players likely already have more than enough Intercessors, but it’s a perfectly legitimate Patrol for the Astartes curious. At least for me it would have been more appealing had the box gone all-in on being a big boy heavy force, perhaps with Eradicators, more Heavy Intercessors, and the original boltstorm gauntlet Gravis Captain. As it stands I recommend looking instead at the various Combat Patrol boxes, which are close to the same value and contain much more interesting units. Final Verdict: Skip It For now, though, it is hard to know sure what the final configuration for AoS boxes will be and what the overall pricing of all the new Battleforces we will be in 2022, as traditionally, Games Workshop revealed them around the middle of November (except this year, and in 2018). The jury is out on the value of these as we haven’t seen the prices yet, but anything in the ballpark of last year makes these sets a steal.
