This brewer has many things going for it but speed is not one of them. Especially not when paired with a hand grinder. It can easily take 5-8 minutes to make a single shot, which is pretty damn slow. I was not able to get Kompresso to 9 bars of pressure, and I wouldn’t recommend trying to get it past 5 bars simply because it doesn’t seem stable. I could sit on the machine, but I don’t think 9 bars is required for good espresso and rarely do I sustain that kind of pressure. However, Kompresso still makes the best espresso travel companion, and I believe it is essentially a portable leveler machine. The Cafflano Kompresso uses a naked basket and that means that it’s best for advanced users, who already have a good espresso grinder and some knowledge about the brewing process. However, if you know what you’re doing, you can get great shots!

The Cafflano Kompresso requires fine espresso grounds. You may need to play around with your grinderuntil you find the ideal grind size. If you go too fine, then you won’t be able to push anything through. If you go the other way and end up too coarse, you will get a sour, watery espresso. Sản Phẩm Sáng Tạo Nhất” về thiết kế tại The New York Coffee Festival 2015 bởi hiệp hội Cookshop & Housewares.Once you have dialed in your grind it’s pretty easy to insert the piston and press it to the bottom. It’s possible to exert a lot of force and I’d say that the famous 9 bars are within reach. Update May 2019: After one and a half year the Kompresso is still going strong. The build quality is solid) Ease of use The Leverpresso Pro is a highly portable, manual espresso maker produced by South Korean brand HUGH. The new Picopresso is superior to the Nanopresso in most ways though. The basket is a standard, non-pressurized model that can hold up to 18 grams of ground coffee. It means that you can pull an excellent 50 ml double shot. Get a quality grinder: Once you have good, freshly roasted beans you need to grind them. You'll want a burr grinder, which grinds your beans evenly rather than chopping them like a blade grinder. See our guide to coffee grinders to find the perfect one for you.

Despite its small size, it consistently delivers over 9 bars of pressure when extracting espresso, which is widely considered the ideal pressure for achieving the perfect shot. If you’re curious about manual espresso, I suggest you give this a go. This tool provides many of hours of fun as well as tasty shots. If you dial in the grind, and use freshly roasted beans, you can achieve it. How much? Well, it’s certainly not gonna be at the same level as some commercial machines but if you use a pretty fresh medium-dark roast, you should be able to get half an inch. Also, if you want to make espressos on the go – whilst out camping or just traveling in general – the Cafflano Kompresso is a great option. Especially with the ability to make high-quality cold espresso too. No batteries or electricity are required, so you really can have espresso anywhere. All you need are water and ground coffee, and your caffeine fix will soon be met.

The Picopresso is a small, handheld espresso machine made by the Hong Kong-based manufacturer Wacaco, who’s also behind the Nanopresso mentioned in this article) Obviously, there is no real portafilter here. Instead, there is a small basket filter, that can take around 12-15 grams of coffee. I have found that the funnel that comes with the Aeropress works great for adding grounds. For manual espresso making at home, the Signature Flair is a great shout. Or, for life on the road, both the Wacaco Nanopresso and AeroPress are tough competition.

There’s something about a crowdfunded brewer that’s really exciting. It’s new, innovative, and people love it. How Does the Cafflano Kompresso Work? Cafflano® Kompresso = Compress + Espresso. Tento kávovar získal jako perfektně zpracovaný inovativní produkt mnoho ocenění v čele s cenou za nejlepší produktovou novinku na SCAE World of Coffee v Budapešti v roce 2017. Like many other travel espresso machines, it also uses a pressurized basket, but you can still get pretty high extractions and nice shots with crema. HUGH has evolved from making a basic plastic model of the Leverpresso to this high-end stainless steel Pro-model.

I use the Kompresso at least a few times per week, so trust me when I tell you that it’s an incredible brewer that’s worth the effort. By the end of this guide, you’ll have made an espresso that’s so delicious and creamy, you won’t be able to tell it wasn’t made with a machine. Getting the best-tasting espresso shots from this coffee maker will take patience and a bit of dedication. And not everyone is going to want to do that which is totally fine.
