With the downfall of the Great Guilds, the whole Mage nothing-is-real philosophy starts to break down. We accepted it even though it was a little self-contradictory, but now it is even more so. Now, all people are real, but the world is an illusion created by the people. Oh well.

Muuuuuch more minor but I also just want to say the main protagonist of this book thought she had life growing up in the shadow of her mother, I truly pity her own potential daughter now that we've laid down the start of legitimate traditions. Although the characters and situations do mirror the original series, they are interesting and engaging. Once again this is a coming-of-age story combined with a quest so it is captivating.The supporting characters are just as full as the main characters.
