Description

The refractor has a fairly straightforward design, with a main objective lens at one end and a star diagonal with a threaded eyepiece at the other. Being intuitive to use, the refractor is often a popular instrument for novice astronomers, given their low maintenance. Refractors are usually affixed to a simple alt-azimuth mount, that slews from side to side and up and down to locate a desired target. Being easy to use means these telescopes are also simple to manufacture (at least for novice models) and, therefore, cheaper to buy. Celestron Advanced VX 8 EdgeHD Intended for serious amateurs, this optically excellent telescope is suitable for all types of visual astronomy with its rugged, lightweight computerized mount. If you know the sky and plan to be doing astronomy for a long time, this is the telescope to get. ★★★★½

These telescopes have a design made only of lenses, resulting in a lighter and more transportable telescope. During our Celestron Advanced VX 8 EdgeHD review, we were pleased to find that the optics in the EdgeHD negate the blurred edges, creating a perfectly flat field right to the edge of the frame for pinpoint sharpness across the whole image. The Celestron Advanced VX 8 EdgeHD's optical performance is impressive, with crisp and clear views with no optical distortion or false color. I decided on the stunning Pinwheel Galaxy (M101) as my first deep-sky target with the RC6. The size and magnitude of M101 make this spiral galaxy a good fit for my full-frame DSLR camera. Historically, April and May are a great time of year to capture some serious light on this deep-sky target.I’ve spent a number of astrophotography imaging sessions using an Orion 8″ F/4 Newtonian reflector telescope. Unlike this RC, the reflector required constant collimation adjustments, and a coma corrector to produce a flat imaging field. A coma corrector is an essential added expense for anyone looking to take pictures with a “Newt”. In the case of my Orion 8″ astrograph, the Baader MPCC II (coma corrector) cost nearly as much as the OTA itself. Compared to Refractor

Reflector or refractor? Decide on your needs and budget. Refractors are usually more expensive but require less maintenance. Reflecting telescopes are popular because they’re cheaper and ideal for beginners. Do astronomers use reflecting or refracting telescopes? Most of the Dobsonian reflectors require collimation before every use. Other non-collapsible tube scopes aren’t prone to mirror skew. I would strongly suggest you buy a laser collimator; they are very cheap, they are easy to use and speed up the collimation process. You should have the custom to collimate your Dob before every use, it takes just a couple of minutes to properly collimate both of the mirrors to make sure they are aligned, and your viewing quality is as it should be.

Software Celestron's Starry Night Special Edition Software, SkyPortal App. Each provide over 100,00 objects in their database This telescope has a 130mm aperture, which means it can gather more light and help you see faint celestial objects better at night. Its 650mm focal length provides a wide field of view, allowing you to observe more of the sky. It's both sturdy and lightweight, making it easy to carry around, and it comes with a stable tripod, a red dot finder and eyepieces, making it a great deal for its price. Sky-Watcher Skymax 150 PROFor astrophotography, you cannot go wrong with this telescope — it has great quality optics and an excellent build, although not all models come with a tripod.★★★★ If ease of use, portability and convenience are high on your requirements, and you like gadgets, then a short focal length refractor of up to 4-inches or catadioptric (Schmidt- or Maksutov-Cassegrain) up to 5-inches on a computerized mount may well fit the bill. Both types of instruments are versatile performers and will show many deep-sky objects and reveal considerable detail on the moon and planets at high magnification.

Our expert staff and knowledgeable freelance contributors thoroughly test each telescope. This ensures honest reviewing based on the telescope's price, category, and intended use. For example, a 10-inch Dobsonian should not be compared to a 2.76-inch refractor, even though they may be the best in their own class. Overall, we think the Celestron Astro Fi 102 offers excellent value for beginners who are eager to begin their journey into stargazing. It's lightweight, portable, user-friendly and delivers good optical performance.

The Meade reflector telescope comes with 3 eyepieces that provide a choice of low (26mm), medium (9mm), and a high (6,3mm) powered magnification. We successfully viewed craters on the Moon and observed planets and star clusters. Field of view– this depends on the eyepieces you use. Their apparent field of view and focal length will give you the true field of view of the telescope. Take in the sky with the computerized alt-azimuth telescope. This straightforward design allows the telescope to move in all directions. The Celestron Astro Fi 130 is a great telescope for the price, but there are a few things that could be better, in our opinion. The battery life is a bit short, and the eyepieces aren't the best quality. We think you should consider upgrading the eyepieces for a better experience, but for value for money, we highly recommend this scope.
