The Octonauts are a team of adventure heroes who dive into action whenever there is trouble under the sea! Buoyed by the companionship of three leading characters - Captain Barnacles Bear, Lieutenant Kwazii Cat, and Doctor Peso Penguin - the Octonauts are always ready to embark on an exciting new mission. I really like that they also teach about the importance of team work, problem solving, and to always keep trying. Having gone from allowing Hazel to watch very small amounts of television to watching much more after switching schools, I tend to really pay attention to what she is watching. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Which makes it more interesting for her, because I can then tell tales about "when I met one of those"! I occasionally find myself wondering about the ethics of their distinctly interventionist approach - but it's just possible I'm taking it all a bit too seriously!

For our underwater creature explorations I turned to the library for some books on the creatures and included the creatures in these episodes. The Octonauts received a BAFTA nomination for Best Animated Preschool Show in 2011 and 2013; and in October 2012 was nominated for an International EMMY Award. We don't even mind watching it with them, although it's likely that you'll be humming the creature report tune all day! Well this has been amazing value for money - my son has been obsessed with the octonauts since he was 2 - he's now just over 4 and is still octonauts obsessed.He loves the “creature report” song and I often hear him singing it around the house while pretending to be an Octonaut saving new under water creatures. If you are looking for a DVD that will appeal to either boy or girl and will also educate them a bit, this is a great one!

Collection of episodes from the children's animated series following a team of underwater adventurers. Since I know Hazel loves the show and I like her watching it, I jumped at the chance to review and giveaway a copy of the newest Octonauts DVD from NCircle Enterntainment. I had seen a tutorial to make a sailor's hat out of a coffee filter and cardboard at Cut Out and Keep. Octonauts: To the Gup-X contains six episodes including "Great White Shark", "Coconut Crabs," "Bowhead Whales," "Whale Shark," "Monster Map," and "Flying Fish.If you have missed them, we have posted two of our underwater explorations thus far: jellyfish and sharks. The group is led by Captain Barnacles the bear, and also includes Kwazii the kitten, Peso the penguin, Dr. Brilliant presentation of educational material in a really fun way - and the accents are hilarious, too.
