Description

Able to absorb 12L of water, it is simple and easy to use, with many of the standard features of its more expensive competitors. As it's name would suggest, the Simple MK3 is also very simple to set-up and operate with easy-to-use manual controls. If you have a large home with a damp problem, you might be tempted to forgo larger, expensive dehumidifiers in favour of several small, cheaper ones in each room. You can connect it to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth, but the app is little more than a glorified remote control with only basic scheduling features and no way to integrate with existing air quality meters you might have hooked up. The design includes anti-tilt protection, which is handy if you have pets or small children running around.

When it comes to drying laundry and lowering energy bills, Mumsnet users know their stuff, and their most-recommended laundry hack is to combine the best heated clothes airer, a dehumidifier and a bed sheet. The best dehumidifiers can help to combat damp, mould, and mildew in our homes, extracting excess moisture from the air to maintain the ideal indoor humidity. The EcoAir DD1 Simple MK3 can be operated in any space that's above 1°C, making it a great option for a garage, basement, or unheated rooms during the winter months.

However, it did a great job of clearing condensation on windows and managing moisture levels in a small bedroom when left running overnight. As well as removing excess moisture from the air, it can also clean the air, thanks to the built-in HEPA filter. The water tank is also situated at the front of the unit and can easily be removed by holding either side of the tank and gently pulling. The Russell Hobbs RHDH2002 20L dehumidifier's water tank is fairly small at just 3L, which – especially compared to the 20L MeacoDry Arete One's 4.

Like compressor dehumidifiers, Peltier dehumidifiers also use a condensation process to remove moisture from the air.It will dry out your rooms, fight back against the damp and protect your walls and precious things from being affected. It has manual controls – including a rotary dial and just one other button, which controls the fan speed, placing the machine in either economy mode or turbo mode.

If you’re on a budget and have a small space that doesn’t have too much of a problem with condensation, it’s worth taking a look at the Russel Hobbs fresh air mini compact dehumidifier. Three litres is the absolute minimum, while five or six litres will give you a bit less emptying to do. It does have an option for continuous draining but just note that it doesn’t come with a water tube (this needs to be purchased separately). So, if you’re after the smallest dehumidifier on the market, we think the Russell Hobbs RHDH1061G wins the accolade of best small dehumidifier, with good all round performance for its size housed in one of the smallest builds on the market – along as you don't expect too much from that 0.
