Description

In this article, we will be talking about Bug Clear ultra for those gardeners who want something extra to use in the garden. In previous articles, I have talked about neem oil, an organic product but sometimes you want to try something that you know will be effective under more conditions often found in the garden. Caterpillars can be a serious pest in the garden You spend time looking after plants; you feed them, you water them, you plant it in the right position. This may make the plant healthier but also makes them attractive to various insects that invade your garden. Your garden may look beautiful to you but what looks tranquil may hide a variety of problems. Pesticide control The RHS believes that avoiding pests, diseases and weeds by good practice in cultivation methods, cultivar selection, garden hygiene and encouraging or introducing natural enemies, should be the first line of control. If chemical controls are used, they should be used only in a minimal and highly targeted manner. All you need to do is spray any ornamental plants, fruit and veg plants where any pest infestation is visible. It may not be effective on thrips or vine weevils, but it may reduce the effect that these bugs have on your plants. The beauty of the spray is that you can use it on flowers, shrubs, fruit and veg and ornamental plant without causing any damage to the plants. A product based on scientific research can control a wide range of insects from aphids, caterpillars, whitefly, scale, mealybugs and red spider mites. Biological controlfor the larvae is available as microscopic insect pathogenic nematodes. Several species and combinations are available ( Steinernema kraussei, Heterorhabditis megidis, H. bacteriophora and S. feltiae). They are availablefrom suppliers of biological controls and as sachet formulations available from some retail outlets. They are suitable for use in containers and in the open ground. For best results apply in August or early September when the soil temperature or potting mediais warm enough for the nematodes to be effective ( Steinernema species 5-20ºC/41-68ºF Heterorhabditus species 12-20ºC/ 54-68ºF) and before the vine weevil grubs have grown large enough to cause serious damageSince it’s made with natural ingredients like peppermint oil, the spray will be safe to use on all your veggies and herbs. It’s chemical-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, and most importantly bee-friendly. Plus, it smells amazing – a real bonus when you think about some of the chemical sprays that can make your eyes water! As box caterpillars feed on the leaves, they tend to leave behind skeletonised leaves with only the veins remaining. This can give the plant a web-like appearance, as the caterpillars consume all of the soft tissue between the veins. Please note that during particularly busy periods, it may take a little longer to receive your delivery and our carrier may attempt to deliver to you on a Saturday. In a heated greenhouse, vine weevils can feed and breed throughout the year, so all stages of the life cycle can be found. What can I do to protect my plants from vine weevils?

There are a range of options. The most direct is to keep an eye open for the adults and destroy any that you find. As the adult weevils tend to feed during the night, it's worth going out with a torch. Pheromone traps are an excellent idea if you’ve noticed a moth or two and want to keep an eye on them. Unfortunately, boxwood hedges are susceptible to many pests, but the box tree moth is the most common in the UK. This is an insecticide that gives a systemic control of many pests that can affect your gardens. This includes aphids, caterpillars, whiteflies, mealybugs, scale insects and red spider mites. It will mainly deal with these pests but can be used to protect various plants in your garden before any pests come to consume your plants.Scottish Highlands & Islands postcodes: AB, FK, HS, IV, KA, KW, PA, PH, ZE, LL58-LL78, IM, TR, PO30-41 This control method has two pheromone lures that act as a female moth, attracting male box tree moths. Once the trap has lured them in, they drop through the funnel and into the trap. If you have any questions or comments that have been bugging you, please do so in the comment box below. Unfortunately, box caterpillars can return year after year. So, how are you going to stop the infestation next year?

Do not spray in direct sunlight as this can cause sunscald on the leaves or in windy conditions as this will cause the product to spray everywhere and waste product. You will need to wear gloves and protective gear when using this product. It is best to spray in early morning or evening on a cloudy, still day, where the spray will be the most effective. Please note: only approved for use on ornamental and flowering plants growing in containers. It cannot be used on soil in the garden or on edible crops.
