Description

Castor oil is sourced from the castor bean plant native to tropical areas in Eastern Africa and the Mediterranean Basin. In cosmetics, it’s often in products that are supposed to keep your skin matte as it has great oil-absorbing abilities.

A super common fragrance ingredient that can be found among others in lavender, ylang-ylang, bergamot or jasmine. I would repurchase this and I have used one up in the past, maybe I’d get a different scent though that my boyfriend likes too! Unlike a lot of fruity lip balms I like the tint in the fact that it’s not a white lip balm that will leave white cast on my lips. Infused with sweet scented Raspberry seed oil that will also keep you coming back for more to this product. It’s part of 200 natural oils including lavender, ylang-ylang, bergamot, jasmine, geranium and it can be found in 90-95% of prestige perfumes on the market. As an example, it mentions that Ci 19140 may cause itching and hives in some people but the colorant is always labeled so that you can avoid it if you are sensitive. Dip into our strawberry scented lip balm, for hydrated lips that feel nourished with our Born Lippy™ Pot Lip Balm Strawberry. Another fruity favourite, our Swipe It Lip Balm will give your pout a moisture hit and silky smooth finish. Unlike other fatty acids, ricinoleic acid has an extra water-loving part (aka -OH group) on its fatty chain that gives Castor Oil several unique properties. According to skin care expert Paula Begoun, it’s antibacterial as well but due to its tannin content it can cause also irritation to the very sensitive skinned. g. dissolves in alcohol but not in mineral oil), and it allows all kinds of chemical modifications other oils do not, hence the lots of Castor oil-derived ingredients.Similar to other plant oils, it's loaded with nourishing and moisturizing fatty acids: it's a high linoleic acid oil (70%) and has only smaller amounts of oleic acid (11%) ( this might be great for acne-prone skin). This smell reminds me more of a satsuma peel rather than the orange itself (not a bad thing) and is very shimmery - so probably not one (as a guy) that I would wear out. I love these Born Lippy lip balms so much, I highly recommend them but only if you like strong scents and flavors. The formula of these is really nice, it is a bit sticky and you do have to apply it with your fingers, but I’m fine with applying it with my fingers and the stickiness doesn’t really bother me. It’s one of the “EU 26 fragrances” that has to be labelled separately (and cannot be simply included in the term “fragrance/perfume” on the label) because of allergen potential.

Although these look quite bold in the pot, the tint is very minimal on these but I don’t think that the tint is the main selling point. I also got back into these in University and picked up this flavour which I loved and then promptly forgot about them until a friend bought me a couple. The shelf life of this product is 12 months and it easily lasts up to 10 months depending if you’re a lip moisturizing freak like me. It also leaves a light pink tint, it looks like it would leave a really red tint but don’t worry, the pink tint it leaves is really nice and subtle. The watermelon lip balm is a very subtle lip balm (in colour) but does leave your lips with a nice shine.

Perfect lips Overall, I actually really like these, if you prefer hard, stick lip balms then you may not like this but if you’re the sort of person who reaches for Vaseline then I do think that this is a step up and I’d definitely recommend them. We’ve got lip balms, lip butters, lip roll-ons and other lip care products, formulated with your smile in mind. Compared to the pure form it's more stable, has longer shelf life, but it's also more poorly absorbed by the skin.

The consistency of these is a lot more sticky than most lip balms but I actually like that, this doesn’t simply coat the lips like petroleum jelly but it doesn’t instantly absorb either and I always prefer a lip balm that’s more sticky than waxy. OMG guys, I’m so happy that I got the last four Born Lippy lip balms that I needed, after trying the strawberry one I wanted to try the rest! The problem with linalool is, that just like limonene it oxidises on air exposure and becomes allergenic.Passionberry is by far one of my favourite of the 5 - it's a purple colour and I do love a good shade of purple - however don't let that put you off as it doesn't make your lips purple (quite the opposite in fact).
