Description

La autora juega con nosotros de una forma increíble hay muchos sospechosos y no sabes exactamente quién estará detrás de todos estos hechos. also shoutout to the gender roles in this book, which were truly wildin. we've got: objectification of female interviewees; objectification of female police officers; condescension/patronizing of female police officers; judgment of women based on sex life/clothing/maternity; and just really vitriolic ways of talking about women on the internet!!!

BE WARNED, there are no chapters. BUT there are tons of scene breaks, and each "scene" is relatively short, which keeps the pace Usain Bolt-esque. I was tag teaming this book and Girl, Forgotten and LET ME TELL YOU, I would rather have no chapters than those long ass scenic drives Slaughter calls a chapter. Daisy Mason inexplicably disappears during her parents costume party at their home. She’s only 8-years old so the case is given high level importance and captures the attention of the media, as well as everyone within their reach. The twisty twist was good for sure. She took a pretty straightforward story but added her own touch to it. I'm a hoe for a trapped in the basement but now she's not vibe but I like that Hunter did something unique with it. A girl and her child imprisoned in a basement, the disappearance of a young mother that has confounded the local authorities for the last few years, having all the hallmarks of a cold case. My biggest issue is with Daisy. Not in the way you may think, but it bothered me how she came across when she spoke. There were times she seemed her age, but more times than not she sounded like an adult. My other issue is the final reveal. I felt it came out of nowhere and wasn't particularly necessary.

Ingeniously plotted, brilliantly put together, incredible to experience. This is truly irresistible thriller writing' - B.P. Doesn’t matter how many times you do it, you never get used to it. And when you do, it’s time to quit. Adam and his team become embroiled in the tensions and awkward relationships that exist within the Mason family and strange and unsettling details soon begin to emerge.

I really appreciated this aspect of "In The Dark" and felt it really brought a human touch to the whole proceedings. Barry’s grown-up son from a previous marriage dupes him cruelly and leaves his dad in a right mess by the end – though you can’t help feeling the buffoon deserves it.I like the inclusion of Fawley’s personal life. It’s not overshadowing of the plot and helps us to understand his character a lot more. If it was expanded on any more, it might be bothersome. It’s just enough to add to his character and not get in the way of the plot. The characters feel realistic, while not being perfect. They each have their own set of flaws. I especially enjoy Fawley, Quinn, and Somer.

Three of the girls are in front of the long mirror, lavishly admiring themselves. A pink princess, a flower, a butterfly.

Would recommend to all those who love police procedurals and especially if you love use of mixed media. The second in the DI Adam Fawley series gets off to a riveting start, with the discovery of a young woman and a child in the cellar of a former academic (who incidentally exhibits all the signs of dementia). It seems that they have been held captive, and the woman in particular is in a bad way, unable even to speak, such is the level of her trauma. Investigations demonstrate links to a missing girl two years previously, (and how DI Fawley and his team painstakingly identify the dots that join the two is just ingenious)! In December 2003, Luke Ryder was found dead in the garden of the family home in London, leaving behind a wealthy older widow and three stepchildren. Nobody saw anything. I really enjoyed this one! The mixed media in this is nothing like I've read before and it really made it a stand out for me - there are interview transcripts, tweets, media articles, letters and all in differing texts and styles and that is a win!
