Ched - from La Union, Philippinesi love freddie's and paul rodger's versions of this song... cheers! Other parts of the book cover Sally's life pre and post nannying and band management, and they're slightly less interesting than the band portions, but I wasn't bored while reading them. The lure of the big city had always been too difficult to resist. Even before her Norland training, at 16 she went to London to work in the cloakroom of Soho’s legendary Marquee Club. “I got to see the best bands live, which was pretty amazing. Jimi Hendrix was there, Pink Floyd and Eric Clapton with his horrendous perm,” she says.

Johnny from Los Angeles, CaThis song was used in Super Size Me. I also love how this song is described in songfacts: "about a young man who comes to appreciate women of substantial girth". Such a formal response to a silly song. Excellent.

She had spent her childhood out of the limelight on a farm in Wiltshire: “ I was always a tomboy and I guess bossy as the eldestshe says to the Telegraph, also revealing that it was very difficult for her to resist the lure of the big city. At 16, before Norland, she had gone to London to work in the dressing room of the legendary Marquee Club in Soho, where she saw the best bands live: “ Jimi Hendrix of Pink Floyd and Eric Clapton“, says. Bryan from West Milton, OhMade about a young man that found his manhood when banging his nauty nanny. She must have been a fat bottomed girl...woman. One thing is for sure and that is that Sally Arnold has lived a wonderful and stupendous life, one that most of us can only dream of, and through all of this, she appears to have remained humble, and comes across as a very grounded and down-to-earth person. Soon, however, the spontaneous jet-set lifestyle morphed into an unpredictable, chaotic lifestyle. Meanwhile, five-month-old Jade became more attached to Sally. And she loved her: “ I was with her 24 hours a day, feeding her, bathing her, holding her in my arms, it’s natural». When I listened to Queen, I never, ever thought- omg, Freddie Mercury is gay. It never mattered- he was a GENIUS (in my opinion).

Geoff from Mumbai, India1) Why do people have to talk about Freddie's sexuality in every discussion about Queen's music? I probably owe more than I realised then to my grandfather [Charles Arnold]. He was a successful entrepreneur, owner of MK Electric and the sixth richest businessman in the UK at the time, who admitted he never really knew what he was doing, so he just did what he thought was common sense. And that’s what I did. I remember Roger Daltrey’s wife, Heather, saying to me once: ‘Nobody’s ever given the wives an itinerary before.’ But to me, it was common sense – the wives needed to know where their husbands were! Overall this was a pretty good read, one that I want on my shelf so I can read it again (and continue crying). Bridget from CoDon't know why, but once toward the end of history class our teacher was talking, and with a part of a reaction video where one girl commented on this song in mind, I commented, "Queen's Jazz album!" He agreed. Still don't know why I said that. Luke from Manchester, EnglandYeah, Brian May wrote this... Freddie couldn't have - It would have been called Fat Bottomed Boys if he didBut, she admits, there was one time when she did slip up. “It was on the Stones tour. I’d only ever seen heroin as yellowy, brown sugar, but this was white. I was so ill. But Woody [Ronnie Wood] and Keith [Richards] looked after me for hours and hours,” she says. “I would never have taken it by choice, because I saw what it did to them. It was all too easy. The same went for sleeping with the group. I didn’t want to be a cliché, and fortunately, it saved my sanity.” I marveled at how much she moved around, renting or selling apartments and cottages as her work situations evolved. She also worked for various charity entities setting up events, eventually starting her own event planning company. She even sat side by side with Princess Diana for some charity events, with some down to earth conversations to share, as well as photos of them together. Sally also collaborated with iconic Hollywood actor Paul Newman to utilize proceeds from his "Newman's Own" brand to funnel into UK charities. In general, men were afraid of her. “ I mean it took four years before I gave in to my fiancé Dean [Κίλπατρικ, μέλος των Lynyrd Skynyrd]. I was completely ignoring him until everyone else said, “Don’t you realize he’s really in love with you?” We got engaged and then he was tragically killed in a plane crash».

I don’t think anyone had been particularly thoughtful before. Everything I did was for the good of the tour and I was also there for them. When Allen Collins [from Lynyrd Skynyrd] missed the birth of his first baby, he was heartbroken so I had him sobbing on my shoulder.” By late October 1966, I was learning how to play the guitar. It is now 56 years on, and I'm still playing/performing/recording/composing/teaching guitar. As a young adult, her descriptions of London in the 60s are of course ‘swinging’ and provide her with an introduction to the music industry. The book describes how she became the Jagger’s nanny, moving on to managing UK and US bands and their tours. Later chapters describe her gradual withdrawal from the mainstream music industry as she applies her skills to various charity organisation and events. The book is well written and held my interest throughout so I would definitely recommend that you go and give it a read.Exceeding the boundaries was never a problem, except once” during the Stones’ European tour in 1976. He was a stupid boy, a roadie, who could have invited me for a drink or a meal, and instead threw himself into an elevator». A plane tragedy changed her life The author encounters many famous people in her career, mostly from the music world but also in other areas, including arts, politics and business. These anecdotes are somewhat interesting, but not particularly revealing or remarkable. Most of the musicians reputations are not enhanced by the authors description of events, attitudes and behaviour. Among the many mentioned, a couple do seem to be genuinely decent human beings. Peter Gabriel and Charlie Watts for example; these gentlemen are already well regarded due to their behaviours and activities over many years. Ira from Milford, CtI must agree with Ken, the "fat bottomed girls" were not written about literally, but as the crazed fans who hung on celebs. Had they only realized the name 'Queen' was not a tribute to Her Majesty.....

She owes a lot to her grandfather; Charles Arnold was a successful businessman, owner of MK Electric and the sixth richest businessman in the UK at the time, who simply did what he thought was common sense: “ That’s what I did too. I remember Heather, the wife of Roger Daltrey of the Who, once said to me: “No one has given the concert schedule to the wives before.” But to me, it was common sense, wives needed to know where their husbands were!»The fact it was a man’s world she was living and working in (and some under the influence more than others) was part of the ride. “I loved it,” she says. “In fact, one thing I miss is the big bear hugs. We were such a close-knit family on tour.” After the Stones and the Who, the author writes about her time managing multiple tours of Lynyrd Skynyrd, in the UK, Europe and the US. She was obviously very close to this band and her description of events leading up to the plane crash and in particular, the aftermath is moving and poignant. In her writing about Lynyrd Skynyrd, she clearly loves both the music and the people. Even given their many faults, poor behaviours and lifestyle choices ! The chapters about this band really are the heart of this book, in many ways.
