Emollients are best applied after washing your hands, taking a bath or showering because this is when the skin most needs moisture. Zeroderm Ointment is a rich emollient used to moisture and soften dry skin in eczema, dry cases of psoriasis and other dry skin conditions. It is suitable for all ages and may also be used as a skin cleanser or bath additive. Adverse reactions: Foam cleanser replaced byMedi Derma-Pro® Foam and Spray Incontinence Cleanser in the 2021 update of the barrier products formulary. Fragrance-free 2-in-1 moisturising cream and wash with natural oatmeal (avena sativa kernal flour) for use in the management of dry skin conditions as may be found in eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, ichthyosis, elderly pruritus and other dry skin conditions. Adverse reactions: It may help to apply an emollient before and after swimming. Leave enough time for it to be absorbed into your skin before you swim.

Not in Nottinghamshire emollient formulary. Use alternative if a leave on emollient is required -see formulary for options. The emollient should be applied as soon as you have patted your skin dry to make sure it's properly absorbed. Skin reactions Zerobase Emollient Cream softens, moisturises and protects the skin, providing symptomatic relief for red, inflamed or dry skin. If you have eczema, the cream can also be applied before a bath to stop the skin drying further. It can be used as an alternative to soap. Adverse reactions: This avoids diluting the effect of the treatment and spreading it to areas of skin that do not need it. When to apply emollients A barrier cream that moisturises and protects intact, irritated or inflamed skin for use in the management of incontinence associated dermatitis. It prevents irritation from bodily fluids and acts as a barrier to urine, faeces and exudate. It is suitable for use with incontinence pads. Adverse reactions:Use in confirmed staphylococcal infection e.g. recurrent folliculitis and impetiginised eczema as per Notts Emollient Formulary. Medicines that should be initiated by a specialist and prescribed by primary care prescribers only under a shared care protocol, once the patient has been stabilised. They are useful on the skin around stomas, bedsores, and pressure areas in the elderly where the skin is intact

Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. Most moisturizers need water to work well. Apply the product after bathing/showering while the skin is still damp. For very dry skin, your doctor may instruct you to soak the area before using the product. Long, hot, or frequent bathing/washing can worsen dry skin.

If you are using this product to help treat diaper rash, clean the diaper area well before use and allow the area to dry before applying the product.
