It seems that he likes the ‘ nice change to do things alone, whatever I want to, all on my own’… or could it be that Squirrel is about to wake up to what matters? Al doet hij wel eens boos, gek of naar… Op een avond vraagt eekhoorn aan beer of hij even alleen zou mogen zijn.

The way the organ comes in and the electric guitars at the end of the song seems to me to indicate a kind of calm reverie of movement and development. It’s not only the lyrics that make this feel like a kids’ song: the melody – at least at the start – is a bit like a nursery rhyme and the piano accompaniment is as basic as you can get.

i think this song could be about drug use 'sticking' can mean shooting up and holding up a stage coach could represent crimes someone commits to feed there addiction, hanging from a tree could be suicide, a metaphor for being conscious of your own demise "when we swing we hang past right and wrong" could mean that with that feeling of being 'close to death' you can kind of break the boundaries or go beyond trivial things like popular opinion thus not be affected by things happening around you like "soldiers fighting with the Cong".

I have to admit I’ve never given the lyrics a second thought, I have always just thought it was one of Lou’s poems and without much meaning, but I do like the interpretation here. Small heeft gekozen voor eenvoudige, maar gedetailleerde prenten die het hart van de kleine lezer (3+) ongetwijfeld zullen doen smelten. In contemporary music, you hardly ever hear 3/4 time and you’re very unlikely to experience a change of time signature mid-song.There are 1980 home-recorded versions of Chuck Berry’s “Around and Around” and the Shirelles’ “Will You Love Me Tomorrow? Bear doesn't seem to know his own strength or how much space he takes up and finally squirrel snaps. There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. This collection ends with another memorial: “Last Night,” written by Tucker and recorded in 1998 as he farewell to Sterling Morrison who died in 1995. But we see that they both love each other, and that life just isn't the same when they are not together, and we see how much squirrel really appreciates this best friend.
