I normally reads large bite size chunks of books but with this one I found myself dipping in and out between other novels. In Black Knight, an assassin is targeted by an enemy who vows to destroy him in the most painful way possible. Not an immensely impressive resume of crime fiction; I would throw James Patterson in the mix, but honestly, his novels do not come close to intricacies I require. Excerpts and links may be used, provided that full and clear credit is given to Rhapsody In Books with appropriate and specific direction to the original content. A man walks into an Oslo bank, puts a gun to a cashier’s head, and tells her to count to twenty-five.

This is a collection of twelve short stories from the author of the excellent Harry Hole Scandi-crime series. Love this author and his writing style - I didn’t know if I’d like his short pieces as well, but they were intense, suspenseful, weird, and creepy - and sometimes deeply disturbing - so, yes, they were like Nesbo’s novels. His translations include Norwegian Wood by Lars Mytting, the four novels in Torkil Damhaug's Oslo Crime Files series, and Tales of Love and Loss by Knut Hamsun.

A young waitress accepts an offer from a beguiling stranger; a troubled boy attempts to unleash the villain from an internet hoax on his party guests; a smitten student finds more than she bargained for in her favorite teacher’s attic; two adult sisters reconvene to uncover a family secret hidden in plain sight. naglasak koji stavlja na likove koji su više možda zlikovci nego heroji i splet okolnosti koji ih je natjerao da to budu. After three years military service he attended business school and formed the band Di derre (‘Them There’). Before my review I've listed the twelve short stories in the book and given them a rating between 1-5.

My rule is I give an author who is new to me two chances to impress me and sell me on his/her style and story-telling. The professional hit man who did the shooting, a Croat known as “The Little Redeemer,” is appalled to discover he hit the wrong man.Part Two had a more dystopian feel to the stories and that isn’t really my thing, though I did like Cicadas of all the stories in this section. Budući da su upravo ti likovi bili nositelji cijele priče, ova mi je priča bila najslabiji dio zbirke, iako ima svojih čari i svidio mi se način na koji završava.

I’m a huge fan of Jo Nesbo and Knopf publishing for their amazing mysteries in the most chilling settings! After so many entertaining books that I've listened and read written by Jo Nesbo this was quite a disappointment for me. Hidden meanings and ideas permeate the narrative, such that the reader may play close attention to get all that Nesbø presents in his writing. Coming from an author whose full-length thrillers I’ve always really enjoyed, The Jealousy Man and Other Stories was, on the whole, a big disappointment for me. Michaelides seems also to be dipping into the world of Edgar Allan Poe, offering an unreliable narrator who feels more like a literary exercise.

My favourite, "The Cicadas" is a strange Science fiction/Murder tale, the concept is very creative and keeps the attention throughout the story.
