Should you use the Corsair iCUE for the Corsair HS55 SURROUND?

The HS55 Wireless is plenty comfortable, however. I've been wearing it for the better part of eight-hour work days and only towards the very end of the day do my ears start to ache a touch and I want rid of this thing. That's actually pretty good compared to some other budget headsets I've been using lately—the Scarlett HP60 MkIII headset included with the Scarlett 2i2 bundle I reviewed last year starts to get uncomfortable to wear after just a couple of hours. With it comes an eye-catching silver and white colourway, some plush memory foam padding, and 50mm drivers that should offer some decent all-round audio on a vast range of devices – from your PS5 to a Nintendo Switch and PC.

The wired HS55 headset with its cable weighs in at 275g, and the HS55 Wireless is bang on at the advertised 274g, which means Corsair has kept pretty much the same weight despite adding a whole battery and extra controls to the HS55 Wireless. I'm impressed, honestly. In general, more affordable gaming headsets aren’t expected to sound amazing; but I’m pleased to report the Corsair HS55 Stereo sounds pretty good. The Corsair HS55 Wireless delivers a much improved audio performance over its predecessor and has a wider soundstage, thanks to the inclusion of digital surround sound. NOTE: The first time you use the CORSAIR HS55 WIRELESS headset on a PC, the operating system will automatically install a device driver. After the device driver is installed, we recommend you reboot your PC before use.

The Corsair HS55 Wireless Core does on-the-go gaming well

Featuring 50mm Neodymium audio drivers with a frequency response of 20hz to 20khz, the average gaming user will seriously appreciate the sound on the Corsair HS55 Stereo gaming headset. Unfortunately, the newer HS55 Wireless isn’t quite as solid when it comes to the low end. In games like Control and Cyberpunk 2077, I’ve noticed that explosions and other sounds that require that rumble for maximum effect just don’t have it – unlike the older HS55 Wireless Core, which delivers enough of it to give you just a bit of that body-shaking immersion.
