Description

D is for Dice: The goal is to cross out elements in your dungeon based on the dice rolled and shared by all players. You can even use both torches at once to cross off four spaces on your map as a Berserker-esque power move. Maybe play this game while at a great bar near your home that constantly supplies good music, since you won’t need to really talk to anyone! Gather your courage, pack your sword and journey through the realm to explore dungeons filled with treasure and infested with monsters.

Perfect Solo or for Game Night – Features a solo option so players can face the dungeons on their own, and its scalable difficulty makes it a great game for both beginners and experienced players. If you cannot, you mark off one space of damage on your life meter for each cross you could not make. I also appreciate that you get the better of five dice when you’re the Active Player; it makes me feel like there’s actually some benefit as the rounds progress.

It’s more of an aggressive deterrent, but, you can get knocked out of the game if you run out of health. I mostly say this because at lower player counts, you get more turns with the Black Die (as the Active Player), but at higher player counts, you end up being the Passive Player more.

As you do, players will use dice to determine which rooms they explore and which monsters they fight.Even though 2d6 is its currency, it doesn’t conform to the traditional notions of 2d6 probability as strategy. There are also two shared goals unique to each dungeon that award gems based on specific set collections, with a bonus for being “firsties.

Spaces with 6-7-8-9 values are valuable since they’re more likely to surface – but the distribution plot on the map isn’t equal for each dice value so there’s forced scarcity, and these popular numbers are the first to become extinct. This rule makes you play with much more urgency, but also makes exploration and point-seeking dangerous pastimes, as they can cost you health.
