If you’re someone who likes using a headset when working remotely, or on-the-go, then you’ve probably familiar with different makes and models of Bluetooth wireless headsets. Being hands free, and cord free when on calls is very convenient, and also helps to make you more efficient, comfortable and if on the road, safe. In terms of the type of cable used to recharge the batteries, Poly uses micro USB, where Jabra uses USB C. A cable expert I’m not, but I do know that there are advantages in using USB C over micro USB cables with power and data transfer being two of those advantages. And USB C cables are becoming the new standard. Don’t plan on going for a swim if you’re wearing the Talk 65 because it’s not waterproof. It comes with an IP65 water and dust resistant rating, so something to keep in mind. With the launch of Jabra Talk 65, the Danish brand also introduces its upgraded, other products in the Talk range. The Talk 15 now comes with 7 hours of talk time and the Talk 25 has 9 hours of battery life. Both products include Bluetooth® 5.0 for enhanced connectivity.

To begin, as I mentioned, these headsets look pretty much the same. They’re worn over the ear with attached ear gels that insert into the ear. You get different sizes to choose from, so you can find the size that’s most comfortable. We all have different sizes of ears, so having the choice of different sizes is helpful from the standpoint of comfort, and sound. The Poly 5200 gives you 7 hours of talk time on a single charge, but that can be extended to 14 hours through the portable recharge case. Two names that are synonymous with headsets include Poly (formerly Plantronics), and Jabra. And when it comes to wireless headsets used with mobile phones, Jabra and Poly both make a model very similar to each other. Specifically, I’m referring to the Jabra Talk 65, and the Poly Voyager 5200. The ergonomic design fits comfortably on either ear; simply swap it over and swing the boom mike out.

Unlike Jabra’s PanaCast 50 which is an in-room video conferencing tool, or their consumer line of earbuds, the IP54-rated Jabra Talk 65 is a slim-line, mono earpiece for those who want to be always connected and communicating on the go. Speaker quality: Almost as important as microphone quality, a good speaker ensures that you’ll be able to immediately understand what someone says to you during a call. We don’t expect mono Bluetooth headsets to compete with the audio quality of a great pair of stereo headphones, but we do want to hear the person on the other end of the line clearly.

Sound quality is subjective for sure, but when I listened, and then relistened to both of these headsets in a quiet room, a room with different noises (office noise, dogs barking, and a loud blender nearby), the Talk 65, to me, just did a better job.
