Many companies do this; they buy cheap headphones from a mass manufacturer and rebrand them. Some are quite open about it and have gained respect throughout the headphone world. Wrapping around your ear, the 99 Classics are not only comfortable but isolate you from the outside world – letting you hear even more detail. The memory foam ear pads supply just the right amount of pressure and are finished with PU leather for a luxury feel. The headband is self-adjusting and broad enough for a comfortable fit. Zoom forward a few years, and Meze is now a fairly staple choice for audiophiles looking for a midrange-priced set of closed headphones. How could this happen? Usually, a company called out like this puts its tail between its legs and disappears into the shadows.

Wood and metal parts figure prominently in the design. Ear pads are poly-urethane synthetic leather and, sure, it would be nice if they were real leather, but you'd pay for it in the end, and good synthetic leather these days has most of the desirable qualities of real leather...at a much lower cost. Though the cost would have been slightly higher, protein leather might have been a better choice for its breathability. None the less, the material seems quite good quality; doesn't feel "plasticy". The 99 Classics do not have any folding features to make them more compact for travel and transport, but they do come with a hard side, clamshell carry case with zipper closure. Inside the case is a smaller zip closure pouch to store cables and adapters; both 3.5mm to 1/4" and dual 3.5mm airplane adapters are included. Like the headphone, the travel case is a very handsome and useful item.

Designed and engineered to the highest standards, the 99 Neo headphones deliver class-leading sound quality. Featuring ribbed drivers, the 99 Neo gives a precise, low distortion sound that lets you hear every detail. With generous 40mm drivers, the sound drops right down to 15Hz – giving these headphones deep, powerful bass. Midrange on the Classics is definitely one of the highlights. Despite the warm overtones the mids still manage to reveal a great amount of detail and maintain their excellent tonality. Vocals are forward sounding but not overly intimate and possess that same silky smoothness throughout. It's organic, natural, even and ridiculously easy to listen to. Just like with the Neo stringed instruments sound amazing from classical pieces to the crunch of electric guitars and everything in between.

Besides the usual warranty everybody is offering, we guarantee that the 99's are endlessly serviceable if any parts would ever need to be replaced, because we did not build these headphones to break after just 2 years so you can go buy new ones. No glue, just nuts and bolts. stars: The product is only about average or even somewhat below that and somewhat flawed/flawed in some areas. [neither "Thumbs Up" nor "Thumbs Down"] MIDS: Mid tones give lot of details and instrument separation. Sounds of pianos and guitars are lifelike. Vocals too are presented well and in detail. You can hear every whisper and breathe. They appear a bit forward of soundstage. Pairing Notes - The Meze 99 Classics paired perfectly with any source I threw at them. They are incredibly efficient and easy to drive.Yes, they sound better out of a higher-end DAP, but even from my Google Pixel 2 or LG V30, these headphones sounded seriously good. Secondly they are a fun listen in a natural way that does not sound artificial and good sound or great sound varying on the recording etc, but not the best but however for the price range they are one of the best and i am confident about that as also being a nice all rounder type sound but the sound is exceptional very exceptional when i mean when they sound great. The highs have a good extension and plenty of detail but never stray into the harsh territory. Jazz and classical music are handled easily, and the 99 classics seem to smooth out rough tones and blend them with the midrange. Midrange - SOUND QUALITY: Here is the core. I burned them for about 15 hours. At 32 Ohm they are easy to drive with a mobile but will respond well to better sources. Meze claims flat frequency response and it’s not far from truth. 99C is fun to listen. Sound is balanced across all frequencies. Nothing over-powers. The 99 Classic is available in three colors: a dark walnut with gold or silver (not shown) accents, and a light maple with silver accents. Headphones like dt 880, dt 990, dt 48, hd 650, k701, q 701, t50rp, ultrasone pro 900 and the list goes on and on and on and for me well nope.

Previously, I reviewed the Meze 99 neo, a great headphone that everyone on my team loved. I even put it as “all in one solution” for both home and portable usage. Now we review its bigger brother, the Meze 99 classic. With minimal differences, I was doubtful that there would be any sound differences. However, to my surprise there were few notable differences aside from the “looks.” Read on to find out more. I was immediately taken with the 99 Classics' top-to-bottom coherence: a generally even tonal spread, with no part of the audioband dominating the rest. Spatial performance was good for sealed headphones, with generously sized images focused at the center of my cranium. Even at loud volumes the 99s kept their cool, never sounding shouty, edgy, boxy, or otherwise criminal in the treble. Midrange to lower frequencies were also evenly distributed. Generally, all frequencies were reproduced with well-proportioned weight. The 99s were neutral in the best sense of the word. I called them out, something I hadn't done since I ripped apart my expensive Hisound Audio Studio Anniversary player. Mids of the Meze Audio 99 Classic are warm and lush. The upper mids do have a little bit of energy and can be slightly, aggressively hot in presentation on some recordings. Vocals are presented in a pleasant way and have a balanced approach. Vocals sound full and present with good clarity and tonality. Instruments have nice separation and detail portrayal. Instruments that reside in the upper mids region do sound somewhat forward and can at times be on the hot side. The “hotness”can be cooled with a pad swap; I found that the Brainwavz micro-suede pads made the upper mids smoother and less hot BUT did add a bit more warmth to the overall sound without losing any of the detail retrieval. Overall, the mids of the 99 Classic are full of warmth and lushness with good detail retrieval and clarity mixed with tone and timbre that will please the ears. Not long ago, you'd never have caught me lugging around a pair of big, cranium-crushing headphones. But ever since I reviewed Pro-Ject Audio Systems' tiny Pre Box S2 Digital DAC and headphone amplifier, I've become almost a headphones fanboy. When my job saps my will to live, my new addictions to headphones, Tidal, and Qobuz provide salvation. My personal search for a great headphone began with a love for music. As m RO) On 陳潔麗 Lily Chan's live rendition "非走不可/男朋友/祝君安好" from her Purely For You 2013 Concert, the vocal is sweet. (NP) The vocal has less sparkle here and bass is quieter. Come with a sturdy hard case (headphones fit in even when the cable is attached) that looks good and is very protective.
