The firmware updater application will begin processing the update. Please allow several minutes for the update to complete. Your MPC will restart once the update is completed. MPC standalone hardware with WIFI functionality (MPC X, MPC Live, MPC Live II, and MPC Key 61) or MPC standalone hardware with a wired internet connection (MPC X, MPC Live, MPC Live II, MPC One, and MPC Key 61). Units will now shut down correctly when shut down immediately after establishing a network connection

The Live II, because of its time-stretching capabilities. And ideally, the X, because it’s more “fullstudio”-like. Reply Studio Workhorse, Money No Object Option: If you crave those 16 Q-links, the complete array of robust buttons, the dedicated mic inputs, the additional I/O, that bigger tilting touchscreen and have no desire to take your MPC anywhere, then the MPC X SE might be the one to look at… if you can afford it. Just remember that those additional MIDI ports can easily be replaced with a USB MIDI interface.

Solution home Akai Pro | MPC Series MPC Series | Maintenance and Care Akai Pro MPC | Firmware Update Walkthrough The MPC has a well-earned reputation for sounds that hit hard and sound great, right out of the box. MPC Live is no exception. Pre-installed with 10 gigs of world-class sounds, The Vault 2.0 features samples and kits from top-notch sound design companies including Capsun Audio, MVP Loops, CR2 Records, as well as our own radio-ready kits. Want to incorporate your own samples without tethering to a computer? MPC Live features a 2.5” SATA drive connector providing more storage via external hard drive – SSD or HDD. Additionally, sounds can be accessed and added to the library using the built-in SD Card slot or the USB thumb drive.

Before updating any firmware on any operating system, it's important to take the following precautions: Whether you're a producer, live performer, or DAWless jammer, this could well be the update you've been waiting for!Another area where these MPCs all differ is overall the layout of elements. Both the MPC One Plus and the MPC X SE place the screen directly above the pads, while the MPC Live II and MPC Key place the pads to the left of the screen. Q-Links are on the left for the MPC X, but on the right of the screen for all other MPCs. Function buttons are also arranged somewhat differently on each unit (and perhaps a little bit arbitrary). AIR Spectral (MPC Desktop Software only) – dig deep into the spectral elements of your sound with this unique spectral processor. MPC updates are usually released to introduce new features and fix any known bugs in the system. Updates to the MPC Software and MPC Firmware are often released in tandem so that both MPC software and firmware can be updated together. Akai Pro highly recommends keeping both MPC software and firmware updated and on matching versions, as long as it is supported by the computer OS. My workflow is to create songs ideas and structure on the MPC then transfer the project to the MPC software and Audio/Midi in Ableton.

A big strength of the MPCs is their ability to directly host USB MIDI devices. Now you can connect and use USB MIDI interfaces, and also connect devices via a USB hub. I connected the Retrokits RK006 interface that I have on test, and boom: 10 new MIDI output ports on my MPC! The port manager lets you name ports, choose whether they output sync, and whether they are for notes or control, or both. You can connect your standalone MPC with your USB audio interface by navigating through the preferences menu and finding your sound card. You can also up to 32 inputs/outputs (but beware of the CPU usage!) New plugin Instruments The portability of the Live has been taken to another level as it weighs less than the original and boasts a built-in stereo monitoring system. Featuring a dual tweeter-woofer system, MPC Live II’s monitor is no slouch and can be used for anything from impromptu tabletop jams to a solid mixing platform. It’s a far cry from most built-in speakers that come included with hardware, with an impressive amount of depth and clarity. There’s also a switch on the rear if you want to turn them off and connect the Live II to external speakers. If price is important to you then the MPC One Plus wins hands down. It’s currently a nearly 50% cheaper than the MPC Live II and runs the same software and the same CPU and RAM as the MPC Live 2, so you are definitely getting a lot for your money.

The MPC Bible

The MPC Key has dropped in price since it’s release and currently seems like a pretty decent deal considering the suite of included plugins, 4GB ram and of course the integrated keyboard. Creativity UnleashedCreate wherever and whenever you're feeling creative. Don't hang around waiting for that spark, empower yourself with everything you need to find inspiration wherever it is. Fusing a robust, road-tested and compact build with an on-board rechargeable 6-hour lithium-ION battery, MPC Live II Retro revolutionizes the create anywhere philosophy. Your MPC can now automatically calculate the key of a sample. Add any audio file with melodic content and let it do the work! They have both the same software and system. The One reminds me the Old MPC layout, thats why I love MPC One. Reply Along the way the Akai Force emerged, sharing many of the MPC's features and technology, but with a different approach to making and performing music. This latest revision of the Live hardware shows that MPCs aren't being phased out in favour of the Force; the two will run in parallel, and might hopefully cross-pollinate in cool ways. Boom Box
